My point was that tanning is meant to make you darker/healthier, but was never intended to impersonate a black person. Both in the 80s and now. Tanning in the 80s was not problematic. It doesnt need to be defended. It is not a problematic thing that needs to be left out lol.

I agree it could definitely have been more exaggerated, and as the BTS photo showed the stage lighting made it a lot darker than it was. But idk why you're acting like spray tans are the same as blackface when you know it's a totally unrelated thing.

I didn't say it was meant to be blackface. Did you read my comment or did you write your own fanfiction? I don't care if tanning in the 80s wasn't problematic. I don't care if it isn't problematic now, it isn't, but my point is that there's a reasonable argument to be made that it isn't morally correct to create such a "character" if you know (and someone must've known) that it would be confused with blackface, especially in the context of the performance. I don't care about the original intent, I care about how it comes across.
