People attending nightclubs and other venues where large crowds gather in England will need to be fully vaccinated from the end of September, the government says.

Latest figures show 35% of 18 to 30-year-olds have not had their first jab.

Currently nightclubs and other crowded venues are only encouraged to ask clubbers to show proof of vaccination, a negative test result or immunity.

The announcement came on the day nightclubs in England were allowed to reopen after 16 months of closure.

Pubs will not be forced to introduce “vaccine passports”.

I'm not surprised by this, I went out for the opening night at 00:01 Monday morning. It was incredibly busy. I live in a major city there were queues everywhere, everywhere was hitting capacity I wasn't expecting it to be as busy as it was.

Why starting September? Didn't they already open clubs or something?

This is a sensible decision. Guessing it's September because so many 18-30 year olds haven't been vaccinated yet, not out of choice but because they haven't been called? And by September they will have been?

It's because the way we did our vaccine rollout, by age category so 18 to 25 year old have only recently (about 4 weeks) have been eligible for their first jab, therefore none of them would be able to get in right now and thus kill the industry as govt support for businesses stops very soon.

Also at the moment clubs are encouraged to ask for proof of vaccination or recent negative test. I went to 3 different clubs and I got asked for proof at all 3, but I know that not all of them are.

HOLD ON... they didn't have this in place already?? They opened all the clubs up like that to just everyone? I'd have to say that clubs are probably the location with the biggest infections rates. It's lots of people right up next to each other, who are drunk and uninhibited about being close, no ventilation at all, hot and sweaty, people making out with complete strangers, alcohol making people's immune systems weakened, completely unsanitary environment. I can't think of any place that could be worse for creating spread

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
