You can build or develop your fanbase into other types of media as well. Gaga, for example, contributed to the success of A Star is Born and will contribute to the success of HoG, despite the latter not having any original music, thanks to her fanbase. However, exploring other stuf likely means she isn't that into music during this time, and the helthiest option would be to just take a break instead of creating things just to maintain a fanbase. Bling 31,379 Posted July 16, 2021 Share Posted July 16, 2021 This is great to hear, I enjoy her new stuff but it's all blending together and doesn't feel super fresh. Survive the Summer EP was flawless and then In My Defense was hit or miss. The remaining one off singles have felt samey. I started following her in her Ignorant Art days (2011 ish) and her style has really changed over the years. Her rap used to be more storytelling like Work and a lot of The New Classic album. I think she's unhappy with the pressure from labels to sexualize her in a competitive way to sell records. She really does best when she's left to her own devices. Lastly, I think culture has shifted so much in the last 10 years that she may not feel very comfortable being a female white rapper. So much has happened politically and we saw how she got called out for her look in the I Am The Strip Club video (which was so childish.) Being a white female rapper is a lot different in 2021 than it was in 2011.
