Lmfao it’s a 4 year difference, chill. I dated a 17 year old when I was older and both our parents were cool with it.

Oh boy, here come the p*do defenders! No, this isn't acceptable and men preying on minors need to be locked in cages.

I worry about this girl because it seems like ever since she was taken in by the Hollywood machine she's wanted to grow up really fast. She might think she's living a glamorous, adult life now, but when she's older and actually grown and matured she's going to look back and realise how taken advantage of she was, and she'll have to mourn a childhood she never had, and it might hit her really hard. Child stars have it rough, but especially female ones

Drew Barrymore syndrome.

It really has to do with parents I think. Some child star parents are amazing some aren't.

I think this is more controversial in the USA compared to Europe (at least compared to my country). My parents started to date when my mother was 16 years old and my dad was 21 years old. That’s quite normal to me.

However, there is a lot of variation in the maturity amongst 16 year-old youngsters, so I understand the concern. I started dating when I was 17 years old and if you ask me now, I wish I had been a bit older.

it’s become less common and normal in the last few decades here in the US, it was very common until around the 80s for teens to date grown adults (i think often girls with older men) but imo that didn’t make it okay. it was just… accepted.

While a gap like this is much more controversial in America than in other parts of the world, becoming educated on how the American age of consent works over the years has really made me see things a bit differently. Coming from a country where 16 is the legal age and it's as simple and uncomplicated as that, I didn't think it remotely odd that a 16 year old was dating someone a bit older. My acceptable age range has always been no more than 5 years younger or older so when I was 16, I was perfectly open to the idea of dating a 21 year old. But now at the age of 31 and looking back on this and seeing how America sees 18 as more a universal adult legal age, its made me re-evaluate. The gap really is a bit too big. And in age gaps where one is underage but the other is legal is also extremely dicey territory. I commonly heard about relationships growing up where the girl was 14 and the boy was 16 and I always wondered, do the parents really hope they'll wait a whole 2 years? It seems pretty unreasonable given teenage hormones so I get now why even small age gaps leave people concerned even when they're close together. Statutory rape is not something you want to deal with. I really don't get why in America, this is such a frequent issue of girls in their late teens getting with guys in their 20's. They know how the law works, why would they risk that, on either side? I heard a quote regarding the fact that Billie Eilish dated a guy in his 20's when she was underage: "Any guy in his 20's, regardless of maturity or life experience...they expect to f**k." So I hope parents think twice about letting their borderline legal children date older people.

I really feel for Millie. She's become famous so young and grown up so fast, it's classic child star syndrome. I remember when she started to become known, she was hailed as cool and a style icon in a magazine aimed at adult women. I have never looked at a teenage girl and thought she was cool or I wanted to dress like her. These things may sound trivial but it was the beginning of her being thrust into a much more adult world and it's wrong.

Cancel culture at it again.

They consensually dated. There are no reports of it being an abusive or manipulative relationship. There's a good chance Millie is much more mature than the average 16 year old given her talent and accomplishments so far, and most likely more than a 20 year old TikTok who makes silly videos.

Can you all focus on something worthy of our time like trying to cancel Cuomo or Jamie Spears? The real predators are staying loose.

isn't it legal if the parents consent to it? In some European countries 16+ is allowed if the person (and the parents of the person in questions) consent to it. I guess it different in the us :oprah:

I’m sorry but where the f**k are the adults here? And why is the guy being so crass and disgusting on social media about this?  Gross as hell.

If they crossed state lines and engaged in sexual acts I’m pretty sure that’s viewed as trafficking of a minor.

I do find this weird but I think in Canada, if you are 14-18 years old, you are allowed to consent with someone up to 5 years older. So this really does not seem that strange at the same time.

Also, Millie is probably much more mature and has her family with her a lot. Her parents probably know. Basically, she is not a normal 16 year old.

Cancel culture will come out in droves to cancel this couple but I do not think this is pedophilia. Saying that is offensive to real victims of it.

Unrelated to this case, but some of you use the words like "preying" and "grooming" too loosely.
