First is of course House Of Gucci, which is planned for release in November 24 2021 And second is The Last Duel, a historical drama, scheduled for October 15 release, with very strong casts participating, such as Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Adam Driver. And set in medieval Britain, which FYI Oscars voters seem to usually favored. Not impossible for both of them to be front runner or even actually nominated, but often times when one person nominated for two things in the same year for Oscars, it will either cancel each other out, or only one of them will be favored better. In the end Ridley will reap, but of course as fans, we sure hope it will be HoG that is favored, don't we? What do you think? androiduser 7,438 Posted July 10, 2021 Share Posted July 10, 2021 I really hope Gucci becomes super successful and a serious award contender, but Ridley Scott is quite hit and miss, and his movies don't always become successful award winning hits. He has made 4 Best Picture nominated movies, and with a few rare exceptions, the female characters in his movies are usually not award-nominated role, and his movies have produced only one win for Best Actor. If Scott is acclaimed for directing both movies, it will be hard for critics and voters to agree on which one to nominate. Same with Driver who stars as the lead actor in both Gucci and The Last Duel (unless he's Supporting in Duel? I'm not sure). But for Gaga, there's no confusion. Her only eligible category is Best Actress and she's not leading in any other movie to compete with herself. It's not a Shallow vs ARUTW/INLA situation. House of Gucci is just so high profile that I can't imagine a Top Gun project getting more acclaim than that.
