Organizers of the Tokyo Olympics agreed Thursday to ban spectators from the Games after Japan declared a state of emergency to combat surging COVID-19 cases in the capital.

President Seiko Hashimoto, who is the president of the Tokyo Olympics Organizing Committee, said it was “regrettable” that the sporting event would be held without crowds.

Hashimoto offered her apologies to those who had already bought tickets to the Tokyo Olympics.

What a shocking turn of event that everyone predicted as soon as they announced that the Olympics are still taking place!

Couldn’t they just wait? As if we need the olympics rn

On the contrary, I think hosting the olympics is a good thing! Keep people engaged and hopeful for a full return to “normalcy”. It’s the small things…

Why isn’t japan vaccinated. They are a first world country

History:
Because back in 80s, when Japanese gov required mandatory vaccination, many type of vaccines that supposed to against infectious diseases were instead, causing serious side effects.

After the great panic of society. Japanese National Law ruled that gov were responsible for the side effects. To avoid lawsuit over vaccines, instead of "forcing", they decided to "strongly recommend" vaccination.

Bad strategy:

Yes, Japan is first world country. But they only started vaccinated on this February. Because not only government  neglected international research and data, they insisted that foreign vaccines must undergo "complete" clinical trials in Japan.

Recruited 160 volunteers to try the Pfizer vaccine. Even though that research has already ensured the genetic safety of the vaccine for Asians.

Why? The money has already been spent, the athletes have been training for it. If there's no spectators then there's not much risk, and the whole world can still enjoy the games on tv.
