As an American, a Floridian no less, reading this is hilarious And lowkey scary 'cause you're not wrong but we don't think about it often. Guns are just a part of life here tbh. Reginald 13,841
I was strongly considering going to my area's regional fair - it's usually a big annual event that begins in July. Naturally, the first night it was open two people were shot This is literally why I stay at home and my social life is floundering, I hate it here

littlepotter 76,610
Honestly tbh it's not just gun ownership that's a problem in America, it must be something deeper. As far as I know anyone can own a gun in my country and I never hear of any shootings, even though ojr capital is one of the densest cities in teh world so the damage potential could be huge. We do have a lot of firing in the air during celebrations and stray bullets hitting people, but not like intentionally going into schools and shooting children chaeri pls
JanStan 574
I’m so confused on this issue because it’s generally the right which fight for gun rights but a huge majority of violent shootings occur in democratic run cities. I live in a conservative city and would never want to live elsewhere.

It has been done multiple times in multiple countries. There is no excuse. I wanna agree but that’s not gonna do anything. Lot of people who own guns don’t even own them legally. They get them off of a friend of a friend of a friend who gets them through suppliers. It’s like drugs. There’s always gonna be a ring of gun trade within gangs and such. The most we can do is HEAVY gun control. Banning them would do absolutely nothing.

As someone who is in America, it’s not the guns that’s really the issue. It really is the people. We need major MAJOR gun control, but even then we need to fix the mentality of people who even own the Guns in the first place. a gun should not be the end all be all solution like so many people think. It’s crazy how people think guns solve everything. It’s scary.

Especially with all the true crime stuff I've been watching lately. There were so many people there. So, so many. This. I worry all the time & I’ve had to start taking anti anxiety for it… it hasn’t helped yet but I’m hoping it does soon. I’m always so hyper vigilant now cause of all the violence & I avoid entire areas of the city cause of it.

Give me an actual reason other than “people can get them off the street” cause it’s not even a valid argument against all the proof we have that banning/restricting them works. The issue is because it’s so EASY to get a gun in America, people with criminal backgrounds can get them. Put restrictions in place, ACTUAL restrictions & it will make access that much harder. A 12 year old can buy a gun from a gun convention. Anyone can SELL a gun to ANYONE. That shouldn’t be legal. We need to pass laws that prohibit gun selling between unauthorized dealers. Then require that those buying from authorized sellers pass LEGIT background checks cause right now you don’t need one to buy a gun.

Banning it wouldn’t do anything but stronger restrictions would. My other comment was literally under the one you read banning them wouldn’t do anything other than make it dangerous for everyone else. Guns are already super prevalent in the US. Ban them, the people who already have them aren’t gonna give them up. They’re gonna hide them, sell them, toss em, do whatever to em. More than likely they’ll be recycled into the gun market which is actually a HUGE market underground. Like millions. 99% of stores that sell them aren’t selling to unauthorized users or secondary sellers either. Some Do and those are the shady ones not validated by the gov to sell. you can get a gun for hunting reasons as young as 12 with a hunting license. You usually can’t without one, which is usually a given when you enter the conventions with tickets you show your license or when buying tickets or even at booths you show licenses. You can’t just buy a gun without any kind of identification at all. At the very least you need your gun/hunting license and an ID. People say it’s super easy but my stepdad needed to go through a lot to get his here in Texas, sadly, the dumb@$$ governor made it to where you don’t even need THAT now which is WAY more dangerous. Here in Texas you can get shot practically anywhere for walking on the wrong land.
