Serious topic. If you say rise during a conversation how do you know the person's not refering to 'rice'?:oprah:

Rise sounds like rize whereas rice sounds like rice :neyde:

Otherwise the context helps if you can't tell the difference

E.g. Katy Perry's latest album did not rice to the top of the charts

I’ve always wanted to know if, to native speakers, there’s a difference in pronunciation between words like “bored” and “board”, “be” and “bee”, “allowed” and “aloud”. ‘Cause to me they sound the same :huntyga:

Z is a more gentle sound like say the word buzz with a long zzzzz like you're making the buzz sound and you should see the difference. S is a bit harsher like if you day the word sassy you would put alot of emphasis on the S.
