Teletubby 151,196
Prince Harry And Megan Markle’s $20 million mansion in exclusive Montecito used to belong to the Barbareno-Chumash tribe — and they’re not happy with the water consumption of the Sussexes. Tribe leader Eleanor Fishburn said Meghan and Harry were beautifying their gardens with water from Hot Spring Creek, which is considered sacred. “They water their lawn with holy water,” she said. “For us this water is a pure water, a holy water and a ceremonial water. “As a native population, it is sacred for us and the idea that people in the area are using water from springs to water their gardens is something that doesn’t sit well with us.” Eleanor invited Harry and Meghan to meet with the tribe to discuss alternative water sources. “What do Harry and Meghan know about the history of the land they live on? I would like to invite them to our monthly council meeting so that they can see what’s going on in your garden, It would be great if they came so we could explain our history and culture and let them know about how sacred the water is to us." source "You b*tch!" ~ Rat Boy

Gabi001 2,464
Can't wait for another Oprah interview with Sussexes where they will cry about how unwelcomed they feel on Native Americans' land and how are they under lot of pressure I'm not having fun tonight. HuffsAhoy 7,433
Regardless of this fact, isn't California in a severe drought right now? They shouldn't be wasting water on their mansion gardens anyway. It'd be different if it was for a vegetable garden, but we all know Megan and Harry aren't getting their hands dirty. Shame on them. You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.
HEARTSTOP 3,152
I don't agree with them wasting a lot of water just to beautify their mansion, but also...who declares who can use the water in a region? Can I declare the water in my region "holy" for my personal religion and forbid everyone else from using it? There should be regulation for how water is used, but for environmental reasons, not religious or cultural. IDGAF
harispilton 503
I hate colonisers, white-washing and cultural appropriation, but I have to disagree. Since when is it okay for people to spread their religious beliefs left and right? Sure, this water may be Holy and sacred to some, but for me it's just ordinary, plain water. I respect your culture and religion, but you can't forbid me from using water lmao. Now let me take care of my garden, chile ... please ban this account ty

I guess religion is cool and okay when its not Christianity You can bet if these where Christian (or another mainstream religion) people getting upset about sacred water, these same people would be saying "who cares?! no one owns water" You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love. Guest
they are a minority trying to protect nature, and their sacred pure water. I'm a hundred percent in to let them express their culture and have a right to be heard on the soil that has been taken to 'em. Needless to say that christianity is shoved in our face since forever now and that religions style is an issue in a lot of places in the world too. So yeah, if it's about to protect a lake because the water is sacred. Goddamn. Water is so precious and Amerindians just ask for a little compared to what other religious people do. By the way more and more pure places should be protected by the state but this is another discussion.

So...the ish with your take is that in the US, native Americans have been deeply deeply wronged by the US. This is their land first and foremost. It’s not for us to decide whether or not use of a cultural artifact is appropriate as non-Indigenous people. Like, how deeply insulting is it to basically ravage your society and culture and then go “it’s just water to me.” That’s colonizer mentality and genocidal. Guest
What's up with the agreement on pressing religious beliefs onto others in this thread? Isn't this community against that? I guess since they are rich white people it's okay for others to push their religious beliefs onto them? I read this title and laughed.
Jill 30,369
The amount of negative press against them is getting ridiculously high. Or they're the unluckiest couple ever, a pair of literal demons, or someone is trying to destroy their reputation. This is very suspicious and I'm amazed not many of you pointed this out.
