Seriously  My grandma always tells me that in the 70's-80's there were ALREADY articles and news heavily warning people that we were reaching the point of no return BACK THEN, go figure!

We always joke here about going to the moon, mars, Chromatica, Planet Her, etc. when this worldwide mess happens in, what, 50 years, 100 if we're very lucky? But it's the big bosses that will go there and us... you said it yourself. What do we do from here? When we're all roasting in the streets while also being in a flood, what do we do? where do we go?

So I'm in Washington. Only 30 percent of residences/apartments have AC.

Our power grid is not ready for everyone and their mother father and friends to be using AC.

This is HUGE cause for concern. We haven't had temps like this since they started measuring weather in this state.

Yeah. Here’s a map of the current dew points. It illustrates nicely how different the west and east are. The higher the dew point the more you can feel the humidity. Right now western Washington’s dew point is actually a little high but it tends to stay in the 50s

Hopefully nobody dies of heat stroke but this isn’t the hottest it’s ever been in the state. It’s reached 118°F before. It’s just rare.

Girl, we don’t have A/C and our buildings aren’t designed to keep the warmth in.  I’ll take triple digit weather in California over Washington any day. My ass cheeks are so sweaty right now they slide against each other like butter.

This weather is so crazy and scary.

I live in Eastern WA and yesterday it was 115, today’s supposed to be the same and tomorrow is expected to be 117.

Hoping those without shelter and/or AC are ok

That sort of temperature is extreme, but kinda normal here in Australia. It’s not safe to be outside when it’s that hot, & you must constantly drink water (have water refrigerated because tap water will not cool given the temperature outside) & try & spend the day inside an air-conditioned room. Prepare for minimal sleep & tiredness in the days that follow. If you have elderly loved ones, reach out to them. Pets must be inside. Don’t leave kids / pets in parked cars, they’ll die quickly. My way of life in the Aussie Summer.
