Yeah like other artist doesn't have controversy in their career.

None of her singles ever did really good except 1/2. Her success came from the album, I think she would wait for that and see what happens

Sophmore Slump, maybe?

A lot of artists who smash on their first album seem to have a hard time maintaining that momentum with album two, for a variety of reasons

The albums debut sales and the few weeks after will tell us what’s going on with her charts performance…

Billie is and has always been an album artist. Anyone who says otherwise is delusional.

You will all be eating your words when her album does amazing in sales and streaming upon its release.

I hate to say it, but controversy fuels artists these days. The world is awful. See Morgan Wallen. :coffee:

Been a cuff touple, a puff bupple, a tough couple of years.

i haven't heard much about recent issues, i only judge her for her music and her attitude (which seems very similar to her brother's)
she has excellent songs such as Ocean Eyes and You Should See Me In a Crown, but she's been trying to push this whisper-like singing a lot as an excuse not to showcase decent vocals

A lot of her fans say "but you don't need to scream/shout/belt to be a good singer" and I agree, we know many excellent singers who mostly sing softly, like Alessia Cara, Dido, Norah Jones, Troye Sivan, even Enya, but Billie sounds like she's doing an ASMR singer roleplay, specially live.

She already had this "devil may care attitude" to begin with (which I don't like).
And you could always tell she's using a contrived talking voice. So not much has changed imo lol

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

I honestly think it might be her change in aesthetic, too. For awhile, she was the "edgy" girl and someone that outsiders felt like they could relate to, she wasn't your typical popstar. Kind of like how in the early 2000s when the music world was dominated by pretty, girly blondes Avril Lavigne came in and became someone that kids that didn't fit that mold could relate to. Myself included.

I think they should've done a more gradual change with Billie like they did with Taylor. Taylor changed sound from country to pop but kept her audience and grew it, too. Her change was gradual over the years, Billie's was seemingly overnight and I think a lot of fans just weren't ready for it. Also, the music she's been putting out lately hasn't been nearly as good as her previous stuff.

I think Billie has just been unfortunate to be launching this era just as some similarly established names have suddenly blown up (Dababy, Doja Cat, Lil Nas X) or some new names have exploded onto the scene (Megan Thee Stallion, BTS, Olivia Rodrigo, Polo G). Suddenly, she's not the hot new name or has a huge hit right now. Olivia especially has really picked up a lot of her fanbase - she's a young  Gen Z girl who writes all her own music that is very confessional. It's natural that Billie's fans would be drawn to her. Not to say that they've stopped being fans of Billie's but she's having some of the current conversation shifted from her right now. However, I've not seen any real campaign to say that she's over, like Gaga had with AP. Once we get to that level, then I'll say there's something to be concerned about.
