Matilda remake happening, Ms Truncbhull casted

They're remaking Matilda into a movie musical. They have casted Emma Thompson as Ms. Trunchbull. I'm not too familiar with her work (I never watched Nanny McPhee), but based on her appearance, she seems perfect for the character.

I loooooove Matilda. I've never seen or heard songs from the musical. Are they catchy and good? I loved Hairspray and Mamma Mia, but I haven't watched musicals recently, because they record the vocals live on set instead of pre-recording them and it gives weird vocal effects when they try to mix (La La Land and Beauty and the Beast etc)

What do you guys think?

Yes!! :tony: Emma Thompson is perfect for this. You should watch her in "Saving Mr. Banks". She's awesome. What streaming service will it likely go into? HBO?

This was an official message from the Office of the First Lady.

I prefer trunch to be male to honor the Broadway show but I’m excited still.

My favorite one is Revolting Children. Oh I'm so excited for this.

Is Emma Thompson really the best for this role? I mean I like her but I'm bored of the same A-listers being rotated around every movie. Miss Trunchbull really meeds to be someone more intimidating and gross.

Nah this is a travesty Matilda does not need to be remade, the 1996 film is perfect and has the best soundtrack ever.

I think they announced the actresses for this project last year. Emma Thompson as Ms. Trunchbull, Alisha Weir as Matilda and Lashana Lynch as Miss Honey.

they aren’t “remaking” it as a musical, it’s an adaptation of the stage musical

All this remakes need to stop. We're literally in the era of cinema nostalgia. Nothing original anymore, it's all remakes and live actions :saladga:
