Both Nations offered financial contributions but not doses which atm are more needed than money Covax is a global sharing program in which wealthy Nations contribute to and can also get some doses and in turn it funds doses for poor Nations as well The criticism comes from being willing to take doses out of the program so quickly yet so far failing to offer any doses to the program... And we dont need 400M obviously. That was just cuz we didnt know which companies would succeed first and of course the vast majority of those doses still havent come in Im sure Canada will donate the left over later but right now the hoarding is a lil excessive i think I can at least understand the 400M doses woth regular contracts to prioritize our own popukation to an extent but what we did with Covax in partilar i think is bad. Of course theres always other variables at play too like density and variants etc I made a thread on it before. Basically caution is still in order but it looks like some vaccines may work better at either preventing spread (or at least symptomatic infection than others). But i wont get too speculative on it. Last time i got accused by a couple of users of spreading misinformation and discouraging taking vaccines even tho thats literally not what my OP was.
