If you don't have the time to watch everything, it's divided into chapters.

Watched this a few weeks back, very well made and true.

It’s an awful show BUT it did help take down the Academy Awards which was worth it existing 👏

Not the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes. Both groups have issues, but the Globes are much more problematic and in much more trouble.

What happened is that the show got a negative reception overall and still was nominated above other critically acclaimed and respected shows. It came to light that 30 members of the voting body were flown to Paris and treated like royalty...and that trip was paid for by the show's producer. It kicked off the public questioning the impartiality of the Golden Globe voting body and that snowballed into a wider conversation about the show's history of racism, sexism, etc.

An acquaintance of mine tried to get me into this show last year. They said this show was similiar to my fave show ever, Sex And The City. At that suggestion, it already made me uneasy. But I tried to watch it anyway, didn't last long. One and a half episode later, I was furious and stop watching it. And texted  the acquaintance that the show isn't work for me :bradley:

As a French Parisian person myself, yeah it's not really accurate :huntyga:

But is it the most horrible show in the entire universe, no. If you don't like it, don't watch it that's simple.

I didn't liked it, so I'm will not watch the next season.

LastNight

This was interesting, I don’t have time to watch the full thing at the moment but he made some points that I admittedly hadn’t thought too much about.

I watched Emily In Paris and enjoyed it as nothing more than a frivolous show with hot men and pretty clothes that I didn’t have to pay too much attention to, but I didn’t really stop and think about it in this way. I thought he made a good point about her character: as he was talking I was thinking ‘well there’s nothing wrong with a flawed character’ but then he made the point that she’s never actually presented as flawed, nor does she ever really overcome those faults.

I’ll watch more later (it’s good video but he takes a while to make his points :laughga:).

Honestly I was looking forward to Season 2 - I thought of it as one of those bad shows that’s fun to watch…but obviously it has a lot of faults. I’ll probably still tune in because I’m intrigued to see if they’ll have taken note of these criticisms and worked to change it.

Yep, I noticed all this at the time and I almost gave up on it but I was attracted to the romanticism of the city and the neighbour guy is one of the most gorgeous men I've ever seen.

I think in season 2 they need to drop the cliches and stop depicting the French as snobby and uppity and they need to show they aren't stuck in the past, and they also need to show more real french culture in a way that shows them in a good light. Emily needs to adapt more to her surroundings instead of expecting them to change for her. She also needs to stop doing that finger in the air "aha" thing because it's annoying. She can put her point across in a way that's less "I know better than you".
