We all know that, but the issues with apropriation are still there, it turned ballroom culture into a fad and that is so sad. Making other people's culture into a fad is a terrible thing.

I'm not sure everyone here knows that. Also, that's the way you're choosing to see it, but it actually gave substantial opportunities for POCs. Also, looking at Madonna's crew during the Blond Ambition Tour should be enough to show you it wasn't a fad to her.

I mean you could argue that Vogue is a better song, but how is it a pride anthem other than gay people like Madonna?

Because Vogue is a dance originated in gay culture. Girl, I am shocked you don't know the history and I do love you.

Madonna literally brought gay culture to the main stream with Vogue.

This comment girl erase it. Erase all of it.

Madonna’s intention was never to claim ballroom culture as her own, as a matter of fact, she pushed it forward to mainstream attention. She has never stopped talking, since the beginning of her career, about how thankful and appreciative she is of queer culture and the LGBT community for supporting her and uplifting her since before she was even a famous artist. You should check out this speech she gave (even though I suspect you won’t). People saying Madonna “appropriates” queer culture shows how little they actually know about the activism she has been doing for her entire career.

"Appropriated queer culture " that's a laugh because even the acronym LGBT didn't start until like a year before Madonna recorded Vogue. It was hardly being used anywhere.
