ARTPOP 3,096
Personally, I am with the Cops not marching for their systematic racism but to be democratic part of them are also LGBTQIA+ and also horrible racists. Many gays are racists and should also be banned but we can’t vet them out . It is time time to change the meaning of pride, from inclusion to all except those who think you are ok because you’re gay and not your skin color. COME ON GAYS!! Bonkers 30,860
If it draws attention to a problem and causes police organizations to look within, I can see the benefit. But it's not like there aren't a lot of LGBTQ cops and strong allies and advocates within the NYPD. Is there a point to be made? Yes. But I wouldn't think it needs to be a permanent ban. PartySick 173,074
I think Sara Haines is kind of drawing a false equivalency here she's comparing the general racism in law enforcement to the pride organizers not allowing uniformed cops to participate in the parade. Someone tell her that you can take the uniform off you're only a cop when you have that badge on but you're a POC or queer 24/7. I don't particularly agree with the ban but I feel like she's missing the point. Whimsical bitch

PartySick 173,074
Of course Meghan thinks it's a "slippery slope" that's been the right's go-to counter for years, right alongside "what about-" 26 minutes ago, Aphasic said: Joy and Sunny explained it better. IMO For sure. I totally understand the ban, I guess I'd personally just rather them have the cops in the parade setting an example than simply telling them to not show up (in uniform). At the same time, you can't deny that things like this are very effective in getting media attention and starting conversations about difficult topics across the country. It's worth it just for that tbh. Whimsical bitch
