Korean Men’s Rights Activists Complain Hand Gesture 🤏 = “Anti-Male”

A movement to ban a hand gesture has been, um, growing amongst men's rights activists in South Korea for the last couple of weeks.

According to the activists, the hand gesture, known as the ‘pinching hand sign (🤏)’, represents the making fun of a small penis. In other words, it promotes misandry and is anti-male. These men's rights activists also say that the hand gesture is similar to the logo (see below) of defunct online community Megalia, which was widely perceived to be radically feminist and misandrist.

The movement blew up on the internet on May 13 when Korean YouTube personality and well-known feminist Jaejae ate a piece of chocolate on the Baeksang Arts Awards red carpet while posing for photogs. The men's rights activists took serious umbrage at the way she held up the piece of chocolate (see pic above), claiming that the star knew exactly what the hand gesture symbolised.

They've gone on to start a petition to ban Jaejae from TV and the petition has amassed over 82,000 signatures at press time.

Any user form Korean? Is this real? :awkney:

That sign can be used to dickshame, that's true.

But I mean nothing exudes more "small **** energy" than trying to ban a handsign. :bear:

I personally think they're overreacting, like how many ppl would know what it means :oprah:

But it's true that males calling out "radical" feminism has been on-going here for few years now. The rationale behind them is that women are not socially oppressed but rather be privileged from the benefit of gender equality (ex: only males are enlisted to serve for military in Korea)

The pinching sign was an anti-male symbol for radical feminist community, and it started out by mirroring the misogynistic language used in male-dominant forums. It's like hate against hatred tactic, but it has grown more of misandry than fighting back misogyny itself.

Korean gender war is quite serious.

The petition to introduce female conscription has assamed almost 300,000 signatures.

And people who hold something with 2 fingers or using pinching sign get attacked by men.

Men's rights? Men are oppressed? What can't they do? Be taken seriously at work, by women? Hypersexualized in the media? Slut shamed? No equal pay? What rights do they need? Im very curious
