ARTPOP? The album where majority of the instrumentals were already existing and she bought them? :oprah:

Why is everyone acting like Gaga is someone who makes her albums all by herself? :oprah: She still wrote a verse which is more than enough for a writing credit. Hop off that high horse :oprah:

wait I thought it was like 3 tracks out of 15 that used existing beats?

Using existing instrumentals is not the same as buying an entire song and concept, writing a verse and naming yourself the main songwriter, come on.

Is standard industry practice :ohwell: the singer almost always get the main songwriting credit regardless. it’s not the first time Gaga has done this, let’s not act brand new.

It's disingenuous, elitist and there are a lot of songwriters fighting for that kind of behavior to stop. Just because it's standard practice doesn't make it right. Funny how a lot of Gaga fans make fun of Beyoncé for doing this but when Gaga does it it's suddenly ok.

First off this instrumental is a BOP.

It's very sleek and sexy. Honestly I find both instrumentals to be sexy but like.... the one beat in the demo one is just... something gets me :firega:

Ok I can use my music tech alevel for smtn in life:

They're similar, but they're not the same.

Truffle Butter does sample What They Say, but the others don't. It's a similar pattern with a similar sound, but it simply isn't the same.

What They Say has a 1 bar loop, with the high notes at the end of each repetition. Sour Candy is more varied (the high notes and the main pattern), plus the tone of the sound is much darker. Swish Swish has no high notes in that melody line at all. Truffle Butter does sample What They Say, but it's slowed down and it's very very clearly sampled because you have the vocal in it too.

TL;DR: They're all similar but only Truffle Butter is sampled

Thank you for saying this :poot: I am tired of telling ppl

It’s not when you buy a demo off said artist and then publish it under your BMI/ASCAP before they do. It’s standard industry practice and it has nothing to do with the petitions filed by songwriters and artists about fair credit & use.

You guys are misconstruing what occurred.

This doesn’t make her songwriting not credible or like she did anything wrong.

Madison Love herself spoke about how Gaga loved the demo. & Gaga herself stated that this was the first album she wasn’t completely hands on with.

Joanne had only three songs like this,

& ARTPOP’s situation consisted of its beats which makes it different.

This is different from people like Rihanna and Beyoncé because they enlist writing camps for ALL tracks whereas Gaga shops around for specific songs and the majority of the album/creative process stems from her. It’s insane how her own fans jump at the opportunity to tear her down.

Blackpink didn’t write all those lyrics. I don’t get why people are panicking after hearing a demo of them singing it? I recall Blackpink was invited later to add Korean verses.

I’m really curious why people are freaking out. This is how demos are and songs are made.

Always love the meltdowns when stans realize some Gaga songs have less input from her than they imagined :laughga:

The amount of facepalm in this thread lmao. I don't think I have the energy to get into this. Imagine being a fan and thinking or expecting Gaga to sit in a room by herself to write and produce a song from scratch all the time. Yes she has done this in the past but she's been here for 10+ years, give her a break.

Just to quote Mark Ronson: "When you're in a room with this person you don't have to do too much. She acts, she writes, she sings, Lady Gaga".
