I went with Shallow, it only took 2 years for it to hit 1 billion views on YouTube, while it took Bad Romance 9 years to hit 1 billion.

I don’t know honestly but Shallow was like…. Gigantic so we can’t underestimate it by comparison to Bad Romance. I’m not sure

That's not how things work. Shallow took two years to get to a billion, a feat achieved many times before in shorter timeframes. Meanwhile Bad Romance was the first song ever to hit 100 million and 200 million, and it didn't have a hit movie to promote it. Bad Romance was the moment.

Close but I’m inclined to say Shallow. Its more transgenerational than Bad Romance, even though BR was probably more popular at its peak. Also I’m pretty sure Shallow had a slightly more global reach.

Bad Romance. My parents knew who Gaga was because of that song. It was played everywhere and TV and Radio.

Shallow has been massive miracle because of streaming. There are still people who have not watched the movie and don’t know about it’s existence.

Shallow, because of the movie promo it'll live forever. It's absolutely gigantic song and still charting. :air:

Honestly Bad Romance had it's peak higher I guess but Shallow has longevity.

Edit. Actually Google Trends shows BR had twice the peak of Shallow and Judas has the third biggest peak (after Poker Face) from Gaga's discography. :wtfga:

I imagine a lot of people searching for Shallow are searching in places like Spotify and Apple music compared to Google considering the times are much different.

Swallow gets it. Legendary. Bad Romance is iconic, signature Gaga song, and is not really that far from Shallow. :legend:

BTW should also be an option here.

It’s honestly a toss up. I was a fan during both single cycles and it’s really difficult to say which was bigger. Bad Romance’s video was THE moment and everyone was singing or humming the rah rah hook.

But Shallow transcended it’s music video (and the movie it came from) and became a true force of nature. It’s still in the top 100 songs WW on iTunes. People connect to it more than anyone connected with BR.

If I had to pick, I would say Shallow. It’s honestly really crazy how massive that song was/is.

But Shallow reached more views in a much shorter time, they’re both big but I feel like Shallow has accomplished much more in its first 3 years than bad romance did

The one that impacted pop culture. Streaming cannot be compared to the historical impact of a song, the Thriller video has not reached a billion yet, does that take away from it that it is the most iconic music video in the world? These kinds of statements are what making every new wannabe a MPG.
