Canada has surpassed the US in percentage of the population with at least 1 shot for the first time (48.9% of general population, 58% of adults) as Canada dealt with significant delays in shipments in January and February which resulted in a slow start. However since March it has picked up significantly and in last month nearly 1% of population is getting vaccinated daily

In the meantime US vaccinations are slowing as the US deals with vaccine hesitancy especially in the South even as only 48% of the population has received at least 1 shot and 52% have yet to receive one

However the US is still ahead of Canada in overall vaccinations per capita as a greater share of the American population has received both shots while in Canada most are still in their first

Happy for you all!! Glad to see the initial set back didn't turn out to be too bad in the long run.

You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.

Yeah. Ppl dragged the government to hell but i feel it was unwarranted. We ordered 400M doses for a population of 38M (the most per capita in the world) and the contracts were diversified with 7 companies

It was just bad luck that in the first 2 months so many delays companies had with innitial productions happened to affect our shipments more than most Countried thats why January and February were so slow...

But it wasnt a logistics problem, Government couldnt be blamed for that or do anything about it. I feel sometimes ppl are unreasonable with governments... sometimes its incompetence but sometimes its stuff out of their control, they dont have a magic wand to magically make every problem disapear :neyde:

Happy to see this! It’ll be awesome if they can move up the second shots as well (they are saying this may be possible in my region ).

Hope your shot goes well @Economy

Yeah. They revised shot expectations down to 40M by end of June from original 48M cuz of uncertainty with Moderna shipments but even on this conservative estimate most adults will have a shot by end of next month and if Moderna isnt delayed a very big portion will get 2nd also

Summer is looking more optimistic

Also thanks. If i feel sick at least i have long weekend to recover and not miss work lol

In Ontario i know we passed 50% also but i dunno if its percentage of adults or overall population

But i was also reading an article today about how in Canada the percentages are pretty close among all Provinces... not like in the US where a few States are approaching 60% full vaccination and a few States barely hitting 40% for first dose

In Canada all Provinces are either just below 50% or just above with the exeption of either Nunavut or NWT (i forget which) that was only 43%

Happy for you! Glad to see it's getting there. We are at 72%ish  first dose and 45% second dose here in UK. Uptake still amazing with most age categories seeing about a 90% plus turnout. I can see light at the end of the tunnel!

Indian variant made its way here and is becoming the dominant strain but cases still very low. Minimal amount hospitalised. Zero patients in the ICU that have had a jab. So that's great.
