Guest
it's actually better than what i expected. This horror movie theme creeppling, the rock vibes, family jewels... I really liked Love and Fear, but I'm glad she lets the very mainstream sounds behind a lil.
FfFfFfFF 55,738
Love + Fear made me loose all interest in her unfortunately. Unexpected considering I was such a big fan back when she released her first albums, but after that album I just moved on.
Fusel 1,109
musically it's a step in the right direction but all this 'all my friends are witches' lyricism is not only outdated but it's also woke cringe at its worst imo
RAMROD 109,385
Feels like she is going back to her old sounds with this one. Probably trying to recapture something? The songs so far is enjoyable. It is definitely not terrible, but surely it can be improved.

I think a lot of pop artists are woke cringe but Marina is actually relevant even if her wording is clumsy at times. That line in particular is poking fun at how people form conspiracies around pop artists being witches, which we still see today with Qanon calling Lady Gaga a witch. It's also pointing out how previously nonconformist women would be branded witches and burned at the stake, while nowadays outspoken women are branded b*tches. That verse in particular is very tongue-in-cheek and meant to encourage women to connect with others and focus on environmentalism.
Enzo 37,977
sonically it's her best sound yet lyrically it's so cringeworthy 툭 까보면 어김없이 소리질러와

Guest
I like the songs so far. Although I think they all have the same general message in them and some similar beats in the beginning. The sound does resemble The Family Jewels meets Electra Heart, though, so I'm here for it. Excited for the album. Will be streaming.
Rosalina 612
I’m loving the album sonically so far based on what we’ve heard, but there’s something off with the lyrics. Her writing just doesn’t feel the same anymore. I know she wants to write about important social issues like feminism, racism and inequality in general, which is great, but the way she’s kind of shoehorning the messaging into the music makes her seem like a pariah and it’s hampering the quality of her writing. Her music now basically just boils down to surface level statements like ‘racism and misogyny is bad, guys’ - with no real social commentary or deeper discussion and it comes off preachy and inauthentic. She had the opportunity to write some groundbreaking, thought provoking songs and really touch deeper on the issues of our society than any other mainstream artist has done before. Sadly I feel with the songs we’ve heard so far that talent has been wasted in favour of showing the world how many social justice brownie points she has. I was hoping for a Froot 2.0, but I haven't connected, in any way shape or form, with any of the three singles thus far. I haven't liked any of the singles either. The lyrics feel extremely forced.
