Will Dua’s “Future Nostalgia” era inspire other pop stars to work harder?

Seeing how hard work took a toll on Gaga's entire life, I'm not sure if I want Dua to be obsessed with work. She was not an album artist prior to FN. FN brought the world's attention to her. And she succeeded. I don't think she needs to push herself to unrealistic limits after this.

Katy also feeds her fans. Taylor released two albums in a single calendar year. I think the idea of "hard work" fits everyone differently. And no one should follow another's method to succeed.

I certainly hope so.

Most pop stars nowadays will give up on their whole era if their lead single didn't debut at #1.
Dua proved that when you really believe in your album, hard work will pay off. And that's for the artist being successful, the label making money and the fans being fed.

I hope all the singers out there will take Dua's hard work as an exemple because I'm bored of half-assed eras.

I hope so. One of the major praises this album got is how she brought back strong eras and commitment despite the difficulties. Artists who want this level of success are blind sided if they don't follow this path... Record labels must certainly keep a closer eye from now on

Not established artists like Gaga and Katy.

Maybe upcoming stars, but DUA´s hard work was supported because she has a great album. I do not think labels will invest if they dont see good content.

COME ON GAYS!!

Definitely!I think Dua showed the pop market that no matter the circumstances and the period of an era, if she delivers, her fans and the gp will eat it up.I mean she's still moving around 34k for an album, which leaked and is 1 year old.She still has a song from 2019,which got 1,7m streams on spotify yesterday. She has the most ticket selling livestream(i think she got a Guinness record for this). She keeps selling. Thanks Dua,for showing the industry that long pop eras are still the thing.

I don't think long eras from main pop artists ever really went away to be honest, though I can understand why Ariana stans feel that way.

The Weeknd served a well over a year-long, extremely cohesive era with After Hours. Harry Styles' Fine Line had 6 singles spanning well over a year. Taylor's Lover era in 2019 lasted basically the whole year. Little Mix have been promoting Confetti for over a year. Katy's Smile, though a bit messy in terms of release, lasted around 2 years.

I think this trend of 'remixing' songs to feature new artists is actually helping to extend eras. Like The Weeknd just got a number 1 with an album track that came out over a year ago by adding Ariana to it, and Dua's Levitating got a new lease of life with Dababy.

Okay this is an interesting take honestly!

Lol nah I definitely see how it seems like eras are shorter. Ava Max moved onto new things right after H&H dropped, Billie released new songs a couple months after her album. Ariana's Positions really didn't have any sort of era, it just came and went.

I think it's also confusing how a lot of artists, like Billie and Ava, release a lot of random songs that end up being on an album so long before the album is announced, that it doesn't feel like a real era even though it technically is. And then they move onto new things as soon as the album is released, because the majority of the songs were already released as singles over a year or two before.

So I think yeah in general long full eras are less common, but they definitely still exist.

Meh, Dulapeep bores me to death, so I did not pay attention to what she did.

The only thing I can say is that her record label would not waste all the money invested to release this album, so that’s why the hard promo through the year even with the pandemic.

In other hand, Chromatica is Gaga's 6th album, so she did what she belief was the best, with no pressure.

YES. And I think it’s a good thing but I agree with others that it is essential that the artist’s physical and mental health comes first. So as long as they can strike that balance I think it’s good to have healthy competition and more promotion. In particular I love what DUA did with her virtual show and I think Gaga would absolutely nail something like that and it’s something her team should consider for the Chromatica Ball especially because of the limited tour dates. That way she can widen her reach to all fans worldwide and would definitely cause a stir and media attention with the GP.

On the grand scale, the album era is fading away because of streaming, having some artists with long album promo doesn't effect this trend.

‘‘Twas sarcasm,

on a more honest note,

props to Dua for pushing through and making this era a colossal success for herself/her label. It has paid off.

& she deserves all the goodwill & accolades she’s receiving

I hope that this does increase album cycles because I also hate immature album cycles, it doesn’t let the listener digest the album properly or immerse themselves as easily in its world.

I definitely hope so. I missed huge eras in music industry. This reminded me so much of TFM and BTW era from Gaga :bradley:

Agreed you could feel her passion with FN the way Gaga showed with TFM and BTW. These other pop girlies better take notes.
