To hear “a different lover is not a sin” on the radio meant so much to me when I would have to go to church with my parents and hear a priest say how basically I would go to hell. 911 because she happened to release it after I developed anxiety and depression so bad that I lost my dream job, I started therapy, started identifying stuff and I couldn’t believe she managed to speak my mind in such a poppy song. I still can’t hear it without crying tho. Swine too, it helped me a lot during those years. I used to work in a very toxic environment and blasting Swine made me feel better, releasing all that rage to my ex boss while dancing and screaming was awesome.
