Also I don't think Joanne really sounds like Mark Ronson at all, because, much like Gaga, Mark Ronson doesn't have just one sound. Gaga went to him because he knew he could pull something out of her that nobody else could. She wanted to make a very specific album, and Mark kept her vision for it on track. Disagree with the first part - agree on the second. Joanne definitely is her most lyrically accessible - but I don't think there is a stronger reality to it than any of her previous works. Born This Way as an album really sits on a similar playing field to Joanne in terms of the writing - Marry The Night, Black Jesus, The Queen, You and I and The Edge of Glory all are some that from a writing perspective I see as equals to a lot of Joanne. Truthfully Joanne has the same level of fantasy as previous albums, the production and tone just really fool you - not in a bad way though. A-Yo, John Wayne, Perfect Illuson, DiC, Come to Mama and kinda Sinners Prayer + Hey Girl if you ask me all have a fantasy element - I mean you could definitely argue that Joanne does as well because the song was written from her fathers perspective and it once again is her putting herself in someone elses shoes while writing. I think at the end of the day Gaga is always splitting herself between fantasy and reality when writing and sometimes the sound plays into one more than the other. Mark really just is a great producer and that rich lived in sound was what she wanted for the album instead of a polished almost too crisp digital sound. As for my picks. DJWS. Paul just does a great job tailored his sound to fit Gaga instead of being locked into one direction for his sound. It's not like RedOne, Garibay or even Mark where you can go and pick tell tale signs. Black Jesus, Bloody Mary, ARTPOP, Swine, Sexxx Dreams, Why Did You Do That, Look What I Found and Joanne (Piano Version) all sound so incredibly unique to each other even on their own albums. He just does a phenomenal job across the board. I feel like i can inherently trust any song he produces as being the perfect vision of what Gaga wanted to get out because he has shown his range. Just look at Bloody Mary and Sexxx Dreams being fan favorites and how different they are - and we almost never talk about his production work on stripped back songs like the Piano Verision of Joanne! GAYHEMikey 7,976
Gaga has no specific sound imo (which makes her special) that’s why it’s almost impossible to say. JoeMo 3,860
I would agree, Fernando was just We can’t throw Red One under the bus, while his sound is now definitely dated, his hits with Gaga still hold up to this day. I honestly love all the producers she’s worked with, from Mark to Paul to Zedd. I hope she continues to work with Bloodpop as well although I’m sure loads of you will hate me for saying that www.youtube.com/jmremixes

FfFfFfFF 55,685
Joanne is such an outliner within Gaga's discography and that makes people picking Mark wrong by default. The album is the least close to her true form and authenticity in production, so how could he the best one that understood Gaga's sound best? He understood it the least (and for that part in her career, adopting a style like this was needed and even beneficial but this doesn't prove Mark understood Gaga better than anybody else). I agree with people mentioning Redone, Fernando or DJWS. All of Gaga's early hits which are so quintesential to her career were produced by Redone, and they complimented each other very well as songwriter and producer. Fernando also put Gaga's vision in practice amazingly in songs like Dance In The Dark or Marry The Night. And last but not least, DJWS and Gaga also did magic together. They infused Gaga's personality into electronic instruments, and made album that are very Gaga (production-wise). Short answer: Redone, Fernando and DJWS are the best producers in terms of putting Gaga's vision into practice.
