The 3rd biggest thread of this site today is this, probably on twitter there is a lot of "woke" people tweeting about how that is incorrect. He is a social artist, he needs people talking about him for surviving, so he carefully choose the music and the correct polemic to stay alive.

This whole world is full of hypocrisy. This was used by everyone to keep the oils in the hair and the hair style in place. Used in the Great Depression and other eras. It was made as a fashion statement in the 70s and popularized by rappers. Manelik II emperor of Ethiopia used to wear Durags, and he himself owned slaves as well. So we have a culture popularizing a piece of fabric for grooming, from a man who also owned slaves????

It's an American thing to *react* to cultural appropriation because, on account of our country's history, we have a special and particularly insidious brand of racism cooked into our culture. Unless you are actually informed on the topic, saying people are "overreacting" about this stuff is pretty ignorant when that same hairstyle and use of a durag can get a black person fired, racially profiled, and generally looked down upon.
