I feel Ava is just starting. She began with bops for kids, so I don't believe she will be forgotten in near future

Most US hits are local so it's hard to tell, but I would say Old Town Road

I feel like the music business isn't making icons anymore. Probably something to do with the ease of accessibility, streaming, social media, etc.

Gaga and the other early 2010s legends are probably the last tbh :flop: everyone else is a drop in the ocean of mostly forgettable stream bait.

You're stinky

Any song that goes straight to number one on the worldwide Billboard chart then immediately falls drastically

Single is going to live at least as long as the album

If album is good and made with love and care, it's going to be listen for years

Like Chromatica

If it's bad and poorly made, or if there's no album at all and it's a stand alone single

It's probably going to say bye bye soon

I wonder what you guys think, but maybe because a lot of music nowadays is so referential it'll make it difficult for anything to really stand the test of time? There is such a huge 80s + 90s influence pulsing through pop music nowadays, which I love, but it doesn't necessarily make for iconic and fresh sounding songs. If a new genre really took off then maybe, or if someone comes out with a monster ballad like Shallow, but otherwise it's a lot of music that's fun for the moment but not necessarily legendary.

There's also a lot more music being released and artists making names for themselves, it's hard for a song to really break through and take hold longer than a few weeks - before you know it something new comes along. I guess time will tell though.

Most of the the songs that reach the top 10 of the Hot 100 over the last few years, I'd say. I don't live in the US but I like how before, when you look at the Hot 100, they're usually indicative of lasting worldwide hits. Now whenever Billboard posts their weekly top 10, I usually have no clue about the songs that are charting.

In I fly on wings of winter.
