In America's 244 year existence, there has only ever been two men sitting behind the president during his State of the Union speech. Nancy Pelosi broke the glass ceiling in 2007 by being the first woman Speaker of the House, and therefore the first woman to sit behind the president during the speech. Now for the very first time, two women will be seated behind the president, our first female Speaker of the House joined by our first female Vice President, Kamala Harris!
