I kinda think these lines cursed them and ensured they'd always be thought of as one-hit wonders. Artists who reference their big breakout hit in their very next song usually burn out pretty quick afterwards.

I don't blame Ariana, but the producer probably knew and nothing ever happened. That melody is too good and even though Ariana gave her own dance and sexy spin it's still the same.
