tomsches 17,550
Sad... I'm worried about Latin America in general. I have a lot of friends in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Columbia and from what they're posting on Instagram it doesn't look like Covid is being taken seriously there. They regularly post pictures of family reunions in packed restaurants, baby showers, clubs etc. One of them said she's gonna celebrate her birthday at a restaurant today. 2 Of my friends there already had it, one of them had it twice already and they said that even half a year later everything they eat, drink and smell tastes/smells like egg or smoke to them. flyaway 15,350
I think what we are witnessing is the failure of democracy in modern society. The political system is putting at risk (and already killing) people by electing incompetent and uneducated people for the most important role in the country (Same with Trump, and many other so called leaders). Sadly, it's taking thousands of lives, and it's all the result of the lack of leadership. Also, it's a problem of deep corruption in Latin America. With 3k deaths a day we'll reach 400k within this month. Also during weekends not every death is accounted. We went over4k deaths a day in march, since school classes are coming back today the number will grow again soon. I am authistic, so don't be offended if I make a mess sometimes. Well, that's the official numbers, there are serious worries Brazil's not testing enough.. so it could already be more than 500k actually. The situation here is quiet critical, the president is more stupid than Trump and he just lies and spreads fake news all over, his supporters are more like some kind of cult, they're ignorant, believe in any crap they hear.. and it seems we're doomed to live this hell with no hope whatsoever

I don't believe the numbers are much higher because we have data from the funeral houses association. It's sad to see indigenous population being extinct once again. Democracy is the best system but sadly there are some big flaws with it. Once you learn how to play the game you can get the wrong person in power. Also, Capitalism it's probably the most dangerous thing for democracy right now.
hijadeputa 4,050
It’s so sad and the fact that Brazil like the rest of south america is a developing country - it will take years for it to repare poor people
Sneaky Oliver 22,973
I think we don’t stand a chance against covid anymore. What the world is failing to see is: if one country remains sick, there is still a risk of new epidemic thanks to the new variants. I think we need intervention from other countries and organizations. It’s not like we had a president to begin with. He’s no even trying. I think Brazil should receive some kind of penalties for this.

He fought against the vaccine while he could, he encouraged people to not to wear masks, spent millions with medicines that don't work against COVID and refuses to give money to buy medicine and oxygen needed by people in ICU. He is trying to kill as much people as he can. I just reminded they tried to change the methodology of counting the number of deads to not to have to release the real numbers.
