"They" are pathetic. I was referring to Chinese government and the Chinese people who supported it, not ALL people. It's clear in my original post. You can see many rational Chinese people (award fans, particularly) being unbothered with the Chloe Zhao news. And you know what? I am half Chinese, staying there just months ago, so I know exactly what is going on in China. It's not the government that started the backlash to Chloe Zhao. It's (very unfortunately) the people that started all the disgraceful and childish attacks on her views of China. All the censorship of artists/programs/brands (lol they even went for H&M and NIKE this time) have a lot to do with the huge numbers of general Chinese people who echoed all these stupid things on social network. Now even popular singers/actors are forced to post their opinions (oh wait they don't really have any opinion because there will be only one same "opinion"). It's like those #xxxisoverparty trends except it's not for fun and somebody will actually get punished by government. Chinese government has succeeded in breeding a young generation of people who are supporting the government for these dumb political actions harder than any other previous generation.
