I don't think that's really true any more. I think Gaga has done so many genres that most people have appreciated something she's done. Even Metallica fans were praising her and hoping she does a rock album. She doesn't really fit into any one box but of course she will always be seen as a gay icon and I don't think she'd want it any other way. If men are scared to say they like some of her songs or that she's legitimately talented then they are not her people and that's OK. But that number is very small these days. Even her biggest haters have to acknowledge that she's talented unless they are willfully in denial.

I think this is where the lines blur when it comes to memes. I’ve seen this being posted on every gay IG/Twitter account going, everyone understands the joke in the queer sphere but heaven forbid a straight man find it funny.

Well, it doesn't matter if you're American, let me change the wording then: that's a nice -conservative- rhetoric 

I'm sure you also understand that I don't mean you're a republican if you're not offended, but I mean that the "people wanna be oppressed" rhetoric is usually used by conservative people who want to deny others' rights
