If anyone ever accuses Gaga of pandering to the gays, link them to this video and they'll see what genuine pandering looks like

Literally all these dems have been pandering to the gays and tokenizing us, but we’re gonna be mad at him for it?

I swear Americans are such snowflakes. Pandering or not, he's on your side publicly, and that's what matters in politics. Having politicians talking freely about these things is what opens up conversations in the general population.

I haven't seen anything homophobic from him in this video, so I'm not sure where the offense is. Tokenizing is annoying but there are much worse things to worry about when it comes to politicians.

This is hardly an offensive statement but it really exposes his ignorance about the subject.

and he cones off as the guy who would be willing to learn too. These articles on him are getting weird...

I didn't watch the full video but from the 10 mins or so, it was just a disaster through and through. Identity politics doesn't work if you have no political experience to back yourself up with. All Yang has is a failed presidential bid

It was absolutely not a disaster and you’re being a bit overdramatic. IdPol also tanks if you don’t have any policies that’ll help marginalized communities... something his presidential campaign definitely outsold some others on. Also he’s leading in the polls so I don’t think anyone cares about his “lack of experience” (as if all previous mayors need/had that)

He sounds like that one dad trying to prove how okay he is with "the gays".

Honestly I don't think he said anything offensive, It's mostly just overt political pandering. Nothing to get so worked up about. He just needs to chill a little :poot:

It's a primary, we get to pick who we want to run on the dem ticket, so this scrutiny is whether we want this guy or someone to replace him. We can find someone else just as progressive who knows about our issues in NY.

I don‘t think it‘s like offensive, but it‘s definitely weird. I must say tho, when you‘re running for major positions especially in a rainbow central like new york city, of course the LGBTQ Community is a thing you put thought at. I do think his delivery and saying that so openly is major cringe, but I doubt it is something to lose endorsement over. I mean he basically acknowledged the power of the community and presented it proudly as a ‚secret weapon‘. I think if he just worded it like ‚We have a lot of LGBTQ Individuals in major positions around the City, that we want to continue uplifting with our support‘ or whatever, his message would‘ve been received differently. I also think he‘s wary of being offensive or anything as he seems very nervous in the Video lmao

He certainly seems awkward but NOTHING he said or his tone was offensive. We need to literally stop being offended by things that are NOT offensive at all.

They media has been reaching to drag Yang for filth for a few months now. I remember when people were offended that he himself, an Asian American, wasn’t offended enough by an SNL cast member who made choice statements about Asian people.

The democratic party is doing it because they don’t want him to elevate his position,

(I’m a democrat) just it’s pretty obvious,

they pick who they want the face of the party to be and it’s pretty obvious for some time they’ve wanted to remove him from a list of choices but he won’t budge

I agree that it looks like a 'foot in mouth' moment. The Stonewall Dems NY were probably leaning toward the other candidate and this was just what pushed them over the edge to it

You’re completely right, there’s a reason these “controversies” always pop up at convenient times. Usually they’ll use controversies when media blackouts, such as what they did to Yangs 2020 Presidential Campaign, aren’t feasible in a smaller mayoral race with less big names.

Very soon, I will assume, we will see which “chosen one” of the NY Dems will be pushed heavily to take the nomination.

It's funny because he wondered why Democrats lose while demonstrating exactly why
