ARTPOP rant

I think it's a fun album to dance to, and that's about it.

Lyrically lacks a lot of substance that I grew to expect due to The Fame Monster and Born This Way, and to me it's just an EDM album. I think the fans like to create hidden meanings to a lot of the songs, and singing so much about sex is not exactly out of the box like another poster described.

Dope definitely is an emotional hitter, though.

I disagree that it's her best album. But I'll be frank, the last few weeks with the ARTPOP Act II petition hype has sent me down the ARTPOP era rabbit  again and I'm really starting to gain a new appreciation for the album that I never had. I think part of the reason now is that we are further removed from the drama of the time and I can listen to the album without feeling some of the sadness I once did.

ARTPOP, the best album of all time...?

Although I'm in the same boat as @HuffsAhoy, all this talk of ARTPOP had me revisiting the album and it reminded me of how much I actually enjoyed it. It's not flawless like some of her other albums, but I don't think it's her worst (looking at you, Joanne).

I listened to it last night coming back from the brewery. It hits different when you're cruising down the highway at 65 mph with the windows rolled down

Disagree 

ARTPOP was all talk, no action. The album had virtually zero flow & was so overproduced.. it really took away from the finished product. The music did not live up to the larger than life concepts / explanations she was offering up at the time (though there was some great tracks on there).

I lived for how passionate she was about it during the time, the outfits, the persona etc. The music/flow, though, lacked on so many levels & left me feeling underwhelmed.
