Kahzandra 130 Posted April 13, 2021 Share Posted April 13, 2021 I can't believe this didn't occur to me years ago, but something just hit me while listening to Donna Summer's semi-forgotten 80s album Another Place and Time. I suddenly hear a bit of Donna Summer in Gaga's singing style. It just never became apparent until I re-listen to this song in particular: I haven't listened to it since before Gaga hit the charts, but now I hear it and I'm suddenly thinking of Dance in the Dark, and probably a few more 2009-2011 songs. I think it's the style of the music that is bringing out how their voices are alot more similar than I ever noticed. Not an exact match, as Summer's is a lower register, but god damn if this doesn't make me think of Gaga's 80's-ish songs from her first few albums.
