I low-key don’t think Born This Way’s bridge would fly in 2021... with a particular nod to the ethnicity shout outs.

That’s my biggest qualm about it. She got criticized even back then. As much as I love Gaga as soon as I heard it I was like... girl... you couldnt use the correct terms? “Chola” seemed like she just wanted to be edgy and “Orient”... nobody was saying that anymore. Both terms were not it.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Black Jesus Amen Fashion yet :toofunny:

Why is this one offensive tho? I don’t think singing her singing about “Black Jesus” as a character is necessarily bad.

“I’m Real” by JLO.. She basically says the n word and no one seemed to care..

The lyric Ja Rule wrote for her to sing. If he doesn't care why should you.

Edit: Wouldn’t any song that has anything to do with Dr. Luke be considered problematic?

You would think, but he’s still making hits to this day so I guess not

Imo, a  latino saying the n word doesn’t hold the same weight as when whites do it. It’s still a wrong thing to do but I’ve seen black community are overall more accepting of some latin people saying it in a friendly way.

R.Kelly's song for Aaliyah:

Omg, you’re absolutely right! Looking more closely at Aaliyah’s whole ”Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number” album, I found out there are punch of love songs written or co-written by R. Kelly and sang by Aaliyah. These songs literally sound like they are singing to each other how much they love each other. In ”No One Knows How to Love Me Quite Like You Do”, R. Kelly is singing ”’Liyah you’re the only one for me”.

Nothing wrong with two people loving each other, except R. Kelly is a pedophile (and was 26-27 old at the time) and Aaliyah was only 14-15 years old when this album was made. :cryga:

Looking at this thread I am sad for the future of music.... no one will take risks anymore because everything will be considered problematic.

I've got an "F" and a "C" and I got a "K" too And the only thing that is missing is a bitch like "U"
