I was one of the few people who loved the Born This Way cover since the first time it was announced but Chromatica is on another level.

I kinda enjoy the willful awfulness of BTW's cover art but Chromatica's album cover is undeniably very thoughtfully put-together.

I think Gaga's absolutely best album cover remains to this day the blonde Fame Monstee cover however. Completely iconic in the purest sense of the word.

the BTW motorcycle is so tacky and campy, which i understand is the look she was going with

the close up is better but very boring

Born This Way is kinda epic, but Chromatica is more detailed and much more professionally edited.

Chromatica’s quality and production is untouchable (is production the right word? industry folks lmk lmao) but also BTW Special Edition is just...quintessentially Gaga imo. It was so iconic, indicative of her familiar yet groundbreaking approach and direction from that era moving forward. It really set her apart from the typical, and people could just look at it and immediately say “that’s Lady Gaga”. It also was so pared back yet so outrageous at the same time, plus that super loud red lip is hard to beat. imo, btw:se is her most “true to form” cover. 
 

Edit: funnily enough, as a kid, the btw:se was the one i always knew. It wasn’t til a few years later I realized the actual standard cover was the motorga one, which in its own right is campy and hardcore, but not better than the SE cover to me. Anyway

I couldn’t believe from all of the amazing Nick Knight outtakes that they went for that horrific motorbike hybrid/close up for BTW. Seriously... all the other photos were absolutely STUNNING (especially TEOG and BTW single covers).

Chromatica is absolutely stunning and shits all over the BTW cover.
