I don't think he's someone that intentionally seeks out young boys but it's clearly irresponsible, and the main problem here in my opinion is that it's not the first time. If he was halfway a decent person he would've taken the precautions, especially after already having gone through this in such a public way. Those boys were clearly not around his age, regardless of what they told him. And this is just two that we know about. God knows what else could've happened lol.

It's a very weird hill to die on to frame it in a way that they are the guilty ones in this scenario and James, as an adult who should know better, is the innocent one. Pretty sure there's a phrase for that... victim something...

I think a situation like this is far more nuanced than people are making it seem. This obviously isn't a situation where James is doing it out of malicious intent. You said it yourself: we both agree that he isn't intentionally seeking out younger boys. 

In these situations, I think both James and the boys are at fault. James should've done his research and he should've age-verified people before flirting with them. However, everytime I've seen one of these boys talk about James and show the messages between themselves and James, they definitely edged him on. Like, we'll never know what the exact contents of these messages are, but it seems like it's a common demoninator between all of these boys that they either lie about their age and/or their sexuality. Now, those are things James could've verified (the age thing probably more so than their sexuality), and that's where you can fault him for that; however, if people are lying about their ages and their sexuality, that's also on the person lying and not the person who is being lied to.

And the intent doesn't matter. It happened. If he's this careless and has these inclinations then it needs to be explored. I think it's more nuanced than you seem to realise. Most abusers and predators don't think that they are abusers or predators.

I don't doubt that some guys might try and prompt this kind of situation - but that's not the pressing issue here. James is an adult and he fed into that behaviour whether they were leading him on in a malicious way or not. It literally doesn't matter. He had the intent to pursue these situations in a romantic/sexual way with boys clearly much younger than him, without having the sense to check. If, as he says in the video, his ideal guy is around his age or older, why would he be going after these kids that are clearly much younger than him, and quite clearly underage?

I'm really not particularly interested in the motivations of some 16 year old kid, and I think it's incredibly scary that so many of you are preoccupied with that, rather than James' disturbing preferences and inclinations. They are clearly too young. But he's still attracted to them.

I think the difference here is that you see them as "clearly" too young, while I don't. Now, let me make this clear before anyone quotes me causing me of some disgusting and vile sh*t. In no way am I trying to defend adults who are romantically and/or sexually attracted to minors. I am NOT saying that and I am NOT arguing for that. 

Maybe I need to see who exactly these boys were again, but I did not see them as "clearly" younger than James. They looked like they were about 18-19. And again, I am in no way saying that just because you may look older, that means that you aren't immune to being sexually harassed or assaulted, especially if you're a minor.

I just think it's so disturbing the level of mental gymnastics that people like you will go to in order to make this seem in any way excusable. Again - it's not as if this was an isolated incident. The subjective nature of how old one might think another looks is such a tiny and inconsequential part of this. He's in his 20s and knows better. His behaviour is creepy, irresponsible and potentially damaging. And he knows it better than most people because he's been exposed for it on a public level before! There is simply no buts to be added. It is horrible and inexcusable, ESPECIALLY because it's repeated behaviour.

It's absolutely baffling to me the lengths that some people will go to defend things like this just because it's a celebrity they like. Just say that it's wrong without trying to sugarcoat it and position blame elsewhere.

I'm not trying to stand up for James Charles or anything, and I haven't actually looked at these boys, but 16 posing as 18 could definitely be believable. If they were 14 as you said, or younger, yes, it's obvious.
