He definitely should acknowledge the inspiration and give credit where credit is due, but in the end the underground always finds its way into the mainstream in the end, so it's nothing new. And I feel like the imagery is relevant to Lil Nas' journey as well. Reclaiming the way women are often portrayed in the rap and R'n'B sphere as a man was kinda the point of this video. Also, not sure I quite understand Andrew's position because he's complaining labels are pitting women and QBIPOC creators against each other, but... right now, he's the one doing it OMG this is not true at all, you'd be surprised the amount of underground art that never slightly touch the mainstream. he's not putting QBIPOC against each other, he's exposing an existing problem with major labels and mainstream creators, and demanding credit for an almost shot by shot replica of his own work after they try to hire him, it's not just a simple inspiration. Aloe 1,199
I can’t when someone asked for proof to show that plagiarism had occurred but can’t put 2 and 2 together about how the director was initially approached and suddenly the end product is something that is extremely similar to his work. Obobo 3,192
imo cellophone was cooler than montero, I do see the similarities. The concepts of both music videos were very similar but lil nas x was over the top and "campy" whereas fka twiggs really was a e s t h e t I c and didn't need to use shock to get views lol

StrawberryBlond 14,891
Let's remember that Cellophane was up for a Grammy for best music video in the same year as Old Town Road. So we can put to bed any ideas of Nas or anyone in his team not having any prior knowledge of the video. Yeah, there's a lot of artists and a lot of videos out there that can result in coincidences but when both artists were once vying for the same award at the biggest awards show of all time you can't tell me that they didn't watch the other videos to sniff out the competition.
