Didn't Twigs copy an Azealia video?

The truth is that not everyone has seen every video that was ever made.

The concept of falling from heaven to hell is not proprietary... and doing it on a stripper poll actually makes sense with the concept Lil Nas X (or his team) had.

I understand Andrew's initial point, but I feel like Lil Nas' use of the whole pole dance imagery wasn't gratuitous and served a deeper purpose than shock value. He definitely should acknowledge the inspiration and give credit where credit is due, but in the end the underground always finds its way into the mainstream in the end, so it's nothing new. And I feel like the imagery is relevant to Lil Nas' journey as well. Reclaiming the way women are often portrayed in the rap and R'n'B sphere as a man was kinda the point of this video.

Also, not sure I quite understand Andrew's position because he's complaining labels are pitting women and QBIPOC creators against each other, but... right now, he's the one doing it :oprah:

Even if Twigs did copy Azaelia, it doesn't justify Lil Nas copying her. I don't know the full story behind the holy terrain comparison so I won't discuss it right now.

But I am 100% sure Lil Nas and his team have seen cellophane. He was literally nominated for a Grammy in the same category. And his team contacted Andrew for the video.

The comparison has been so heavily discussed and I legit don't understand how some of you still can't see how much of a copy it is. It's literally similar frames, similar concepts, similar execution. It's fine to admit that they messed up with those 10 or 20 seconds of the video. No one is crucifying Lil Nas. But it's very disrespectful to the artists and directors who worked on cellophane for their work to be reused like it's nothing.

Right, the truth is: nothing is ever truly original. What matters is: is this serving a purpose, and is the inspiration respectfully acknowledged. Lil Nas never pretended this idea to be totally new, but the way he executed it is what's making it relevant and more than a simple rip-off.

I'm also pretty sure they had mood boards as well while making Cellophane. I absolutely love Andrew Thomas Huang's work, but he should come off his high horses.

The part where he’s falling down the pole is literally shot by shot identical almost. I don’t know how anyone can not notice it. The inspiration was very apparent and it wouldn’t have been hard to acknowledge the inspiration. Especially since FKA Twigs is a much smaller artist. It’s even sadder how some people dismiss this because she’s not as well known.

Why do some of you ignore the part where he got contacted by X's label and then got sidelined, while his concept got ripped off??? That's the main point here

At the end of the day GP doesnt know cellophane or even FKA Twiggs...

This is exactly the type of behaviour that derives from big artists not crediting smaller ones. Whenever a smaller artist starts demanding credit, the stans start acting the same way and trash them.

And this is only more proof.

Now don't go crying about getting "bullied" and "attacked" when youre doing exactly that to others. Your attitude is truly disgusting and incredibly disrespectful.
