It's like you didn't even read what I replied to you :bear: I literally said no one is trashing him or saying he's untalented. Being inspired isn't degrading. In fact, being uninspired is generally a bad thing if anything.

I didn't say I agree with OP but OP didn't say anything demeaning to the artists.

I don't think he knows what 'inspired' means. in this day and age people read inspired and jump to 'copied'

I'm so sick of the liddos acting like pop culture was invented in 2008 when Gaga debuted :smh:

You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.

Not everything or everyone is inspired by gaga you and the OP need to stop.

Just acknowledge that lil nas x is talented and didnt need any kind of inspiration.

I mean given the recent developments its glaringly obvious there was, inspiration for this video by the ton

Why is this thread such a mess? :air:   Lil Nas X has definitely been inspired by Nicki, Gaga, and others. But he hasn't copied anyone, and its great that we have a black gay male raper doing his thing and being artistic, which is hard to get not everybody has that

Just let Lil Nas X have his moment lmao

this is very paws down little monsters-level “receipts”. crawling on the ground, giving someone a lap dance and simply looking like an alien aren’t “gaga-inspired”. this is the same energy PDLM gives to their small following when they attempt to show gaga is copying madonna, and anyone convinced by this is no different to their blind as a bat followers.

if anything, this video is much campier than his previous ones. so i can see why you’re making comparisons. i know you’re not dragging him btw, this thread just could’ve been executed way better.

But Gaga is certainly inspired by madonna, in different ways tho, i think without madonna she wouldn't have the fearless spirit to face criticism and approach religious topics.

It's not the frames that i'm pointing out, those are just images, it's the context, does it sound familiar sexualizing yourself in order to get what you want, give a lap dance to your enemy, once you get it seize control and finally kill him?? it's a very gaga-esque idea i think, and i love it.

He actually doesn't craw the floor, they just made him fall, that particular shot is almost identical to the shot of bad romance. Certainly looking like an alien never would be "gaga-inspired" but there are a lot of ways an alien can look, in this case their heads have the same shape, and similar prosthetics and even a third eye, besides the alien represent his sin, his purest & true self, free of judgement, and in BTW is the pure mother of a new race free of judgement.
Look i'm not asserting that he was absolutely inspired by gaga, but he surely might be, at least is the closest thing from the rest of mainstream pop artists, and in my opinion he is, it's just an opinion and i'm telling you why, you can disagree with me and tell me why you think my points doesn't really mean he's been gaga-inspired it would be interesting.

I said it before, I'll say it again: the video is very Katy Perry.

I think the real issue here is some of you really lack general knowledge when it comes to music, music videos or art history, which makes you see everything through the Gaga prism.

Very much this. Everything futuristic, dystopian, or pink and black has been "so chromatica" for the last year. Before that, anything remotely twangy was "inspired by Joanne". It's crazy how shallow :crossed: the range of references is around here and in stan culture as a whole.

how exactly? i'm talking about substance, not looks, in the early 2010's Katy kind of followed every step gaga made haha, maybe that's why.

it might appear "so chromatica" only for the looks, i understand that pov, what do u expect the people would say? "so the fifth element" (which it is actually) "so star wars", "so star trek" etc it just might be, it's just looks. Katy for example in the early 2010's adapted to the gaga looks, but it never went far beyond that really, they always stood up for different things and had a very different form to make videos and art, no one would say they have the same spirit. it is not shallow to bring up current trends, is it actually silly to ignore that trends and the work of your contemporaries are an important variable to determine what artists would do, specially if we're talking about pop music, most people just approach to trends in their own way.
