"Memory of my father slandered"

She big mad, lol. She jumped on facebook today and posted this:

Having seen the preview images of "House of Gucci," set for release in November, I cannot sit idly by. My father - Aldo Gucci, who transformed Gucci from a single store in Florence to a global phenomenon during his 30 years as Chairman - is portrayed as a diminutive, overweight thug, when in reality he was tall, slender, and blue-eyed. He was the personification of elegance, applauded by royalty, heads of state, and legendary Hollywood stars. In the movie, he is played by Al Pacino, the actor known for his role in The Godfather as a mobster and Scarface as a drug dealer, stigmatizing generations of Italians and Latinos. The script is based on a book by an author who never met my father and is centered around Patrizia Reggiani - a convicted murderer - and my cousin Maurizio Gucci, who ruthlessly cast his uncle aside in a hostile takeover before running the business into the ground. To see them glorified by Hollywood A-listers and acclaimed director Ridley Scott beggars belief.

Maurizio Gucci owed everything to my father, who took him under his wing as a young man and treated him like a son. Aldo Gucci was not flawless. He had a legendary temper and ruled with an iron fist. His tenacity was matched by undying loyalty to his family and he earned the respect of all those who worked with him, including me. Many people owe their careers to him. The success of Gucci, and the Made in Italy franchise that helped launch countless brands over the years, is largely down to him.

My father's memory is too precious to be slandered. He is no longer here to defend himself against this apparent vilification. To uphold his legacy, I published my memoir in 2016 and turned down many offers to make a film adaption for fear of real events and characters being distorted for commercial gain. History should not be revised in the interest of selling more books and streaming services. 2021 is the 100-year anniversary of Gucci as a brand, 70 of which as a family business. None of this would have been possible without the genius that was Aldo Gucci.

The Maurizio drags. Feelings and betrayals still run deep. :bradley: @ her coming for legend Al Pacino though.

Hate, drama, and hype 8 months before the official release? Gucci is coming to smash streaming records I see.

I mean, she made a few points. To us, this is just some story, but this was her family's life - she's entitled to her feelings.

Obviously we don't know the direction this movie is going, but I would hope that it doesn't glorify, glamourize, or revise the events and people featured in it for the sake of entertainment.

I'm reading the book now and this family is crazy, lmao. There was so much infighting, I'm not surprised she's mad, seems typical :laughga:

Like one of Aldo's sons (the one played by Jared Leto) turned his father in for tax evasion and Aldo went to jail for it :smh:

How does she know how her father will be portrayed in the film if it hasn’t been released yet? Unless she’s talking about the book?

chile they still feuding even beyond the grave... this family's just so sad!

I don't think their actions will be glorified though, will have to see about that! Good thing the biopic ain't about some heroes, so whatever the family might think about it won't mean much!

welllllllllllllll I can understand her point of view.....

They can kinda portrait him as a bad husband and give that as one of the "common people" motive for the murder..

It's kinda like In Bohemian Rhapsody they portrait the rest of the band as a not problematic family people while Freddie was the worst.. and it was not the reality actually, they were f-cked up like him, but it's changing the way people think about him and them..

So it's delicate, it's her memory and every mistake can break her heart.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

I think she should wait to see how he's portrayed in the movie, but tbh this is so interesting :enigma:

I hope the movie shows the characters in a complex way anyway and not just good/bad

Yeah, I can see that. But I had to lol @ "he was a tall, slender and blue-eyed."

Surely they won't glorify Maurizio or Patrizia. I read a few things on twitter from people who are currently reading the book. One Adam Driver stan keeps mentioning Maurizio's good points, was sweet to his kids, never cheated on Patrizia, was concerned about her when she had that brain tumor, and I was really like, "aww, that's tragic, too bad Patrizia was so awful. :fatcat: " Then I was reading this other person's takes and excerpts from the book and apparently Maurizio choked Patrizia during Christmas once and it terrified their daughters (and also cheated on Patrizia with an blonde American girl, gave her his credit card to go shopping all the time etc. while giving his wife a keychain for Christmas). Then I was like, tumblr_pwwrkji8mG1vbdh23o6_250.gifv

I think the truth is definitely complicated and I can see it dredging up some more drama for their family.

I think Patrizia definitely has potential to be unintentionally glorified because she totally fits into the trope of the woman who has the gall to do WTF she wants (but in this case, it's murder). Kind of reminds me of dark Lucille Bluth.

Kind of hope it has the same tone as Succession - that show strikes a balance of making you feel for the characters on some level, but also feeling utter disgust @ their awful behavior.
