Uh literally almost all of it has been ahead of the trend except for maybe Chromatica

Every major pop girl jumped on the Joanne trend in the following years for example

Just wanted to add, that perhaps I may have chosen the wrong word? I didn't want to ask whether her catalog was dated or timeless. I wanted to ask if her music has ever been inventive, new, cutting edge, ahead of the curve. We all know she has never followed a trend, but has she been ahead of a trend? I say she was during TF/TFM but since then, NO.

Yes, Gaga brought back four to the floor pop with JD and Poker Face.

She helped inspire a lot of the so called "dark pop" with TFM, many pop girls followed suit.

ARTPOP's sound let to more mainstream acceptance of heavier EDM genres

Joanne also came just before the time many pop girls wanted a more country/folk sound.

Maybe its just coincidence but thats how it seems. She pushes the boundary and usually succeeds so other artists follow her steps.

Edit:

I think BTW and Chromatica differ because to me they seem more of a tribute to an older sound (BTW = 80s anthemic pop/rock, Chromatica = 90's dance music)

:) Okei! Just wasn't sure since there are some people who aren't English native speaking so I figured I'd reply with that.

Yes, of course, no worries.

Yes I think her music was fresh and ahead of the trends when released.

I live outside the space time continuum.

The fame was absolutely a catalyst in mainstream music. Fresh af at the time. Now not so much , obviously.

Better Day

Some days it sounds fresh, some days it sounds like it aged like milk.

I think some of the songs  were basically based on already existing underground music, and most other songs were re-introducing trends from the past (like the big 80's or 90's influence).

Overall, I think most of Gaga's music is very referential and it's based on already existing sounds that either had not been already introduced to the mainstream or  sounds that were trendy decades earlier. So in conclusion, I don't think Gaga's music is original or innovative in the true sense of the worlds, but it's ahead of most mainstream trends.

TFM and Joanne were trendsetters. end of btw era (mainly the remixes) and ARTPOP were not just dated but the instrumentals were like 2 years late by the time the records got released

The Fame was not just ahead of the trends but actually set them. There was absolutely nothing that sounded like it at the time- it was game changing and set in motion a whole era of pop music. TFM continued the natural progression of those trends, still ahead of the curve. BTW a bit less so, but still fresh. ARTPOP just did its own thing without regard to trends. Joanne ended up being a bit ahead of a trend, but more coincidentally; it didn't set the trend and jumped on it to early to actually catch on. Chromatica is following a trend so still slightly fresh but not ahead of anything.
