Supersonic 49,376
A plethora of German bishops of the Catholic church have come out against Pope Francis' statement that homosexual couples shouldn't be blessed by the Church. Especially bishops of the usually arch-conservative Bavaria have voiced loud criticism against this dogma. Ansgar Wiedenhaus, pater of the Jesuit Order in Nuremberg, is quoted saying: "It is pure cruelty and heartlessness to tell two people who are in love that their love is sinful." Wiedenhaus says he has given homosexual couples his blessings and wedded them in his church, since gay marriage became legal in Germany and he will continue to do so. He and 15 other Catholic priests from Nuremberg signed a public statement condeming the recent dogma coming from Rome. https://www.nordbayern.de/region/nuernberg/nurnberger-pfarrer-wir-wollen-homosexuelle-paare-segnen-1.10937616

Ricksies 527
Good to know there are some decent Catholics around. If the Church doesn't become more accepting it will simply die off in most parts of the civilised world.

Lady Rah Rah 2,013
"Thou shall not judge" - I know this has a very particular meaning (often people think it means you should not judge anyone/anything but really it means don't judge unless you want to be judged.) I've always thought it was odd that many people who hate LGBT people because of religion are the same ones who say "Only God can judge me" and then say God made us all a certain way and not to ask why God makes the decisions they do. I just tell people like this just worry about yourself lmao. Chromatica will live on forever.

I understand what you are saying but simply disagree. I said the catholic institution is hateful and corrupt, not every catholic person, as i know many people who are very nice. But when the vatican itself says our existence is sinful, and the vast majority of catholics believe that as well, that makes the "civilized" catholics a very small exception and not the majority. I'm talking about catholics because it's relevant to this situation, but of course i mean every religion or sect that discriminates against us. Catholics are actually less bigoted in comparison to other religions and sects because at least the pope did say supportive things about gay people (i.e. we don't deserve to die!) chaeri pls

It’s taken too literally and outside the context. But the overall the message is of love, compassion and acceptance. Which we need. Sadly we get stuck in the cultural ways people lived 2000s years ago and cannot put it aside to see how the world is different today and how the Bible’s application cannot be the same. I am a spiritual person and I have been researching this for a while and the word homosexual doesn’t even exist in the original copies of the bible. The word translated as homosexual refers to something closer to pdfilia as during that time grown man would taken younger boys, castrate them and use them for pleasure, sometimes even in weird, spiritual rituals. The apostles were talking about that. Not to mention that during that time the concept of marriage which all christians scream as being fundamental and necessary before having sexual relationships didn’t even exist as we know it today. It was literally a transaction deal. I give you my daughter and you give me this. Or they would marry just to procreate, there was no love involved. So why don’t they marry the same today if they preach the Bible as being 100% correct. It’s the hypocrisy, misinformation, poor translations & lack of knowledge on how to read it. The Bible is very complex, its a history book, a philosophical book & a fictional book. And that is how you read it because it has all and not all is fictional, not all is historical and not all philosophical so you must read more than just the Bible to understand it.
