Its not uncommon for actors or celebrities to have stage names: Marilyn Monroe, John Legend, Whoopi Goldberg, Madonna, Rihanna... Madonna is her name and Rihanna is her middle name

dit 46,158
I actually find it so cool that she is doing serious movie roles and still going by Lady Gaga. It's so iconic to see her name in the credits at the end of A Star Is Born like that. Stefani just wouldn't feel as iconic imo. I know that they apparently considered doing that for A Star Is Born but I think it was rumored that Bradley (or the studio) advised against that due to marketing reasons. They knew some ppl wouldnt know who Stefani Germ is when in fact everyone knows the name Lady Gaga instead. I hope she keeps it that way.
MadreMonster 2,584
They would never let her unless she does a movie fully funded by herself. Her name is stamped on the movie to draw attention.

Nycboy 987
From ASIB, we 100% know she can be taken seriously as Lady Gaga. I wonder, though, if deep down in her heart she still likes being called Lady Gaga. She came up with that name when she was a club performer in her 20s. She couldn’t be in a more different place today. The name “Lady Gaga” was a part of her overall image when she burst onto the scene in 2008. It was part of her armor, which she has since deconstructed. The nickname itself almost feels like a relic of her first few eras, once you consider how far she’s evolved since. Her new ventures are way more serious. She no longer hides behind a “persona” or an “aura.” Personally, from Joanne through today I still call her Gaga but I see her more as Stefanie. WannabeProducer 14
I thought about that when A Star Is Born was released. At first I thought, that she definitely should use her real name. But on the other hand, she really defines herself through Lady Gaga. She uses Lady Gaga to be who she wants to be (and not the other way round, like many other musicians try to be someone else). Because of this, I think she should continue using Lady Gaga as an actress
Skabi 3,096
tbh ive only thought of "lady gaga" as non serious/funny etc for like the first two years of her career. i believe that at this point it's just.... a name. people don't go through the meaning of it, it's just.. well lady gaga
