London Anti Lockdown Protests

The main problem here is not really the “Anti Lockdown” people. As some of y’all figured it out, the messures really aren’t justified (in my eyes)

The problem with those protests though is that it is also a platform for right winged people, anti maskers, Qanon people and anti vacs and they use those protests for their intrest. I doubt those protest really are about the lockdown itself

Some people just can't stand it anymore. Not that I fully approve this since it is dangerous to gather like that but lockdown again is too much for mental health, we can not do this forever and the virus doesn't seem to go anywhere in near future. I am afraid that vaccines won't be strong enough to stop it.

:S

Nobody gave a damn about mental health before this virus. It’s just an excuse to cry for their “freedoms.”

This generation of people hasn’t had to sacrifice ANYTHING like our ancestors did. It’s insane how we can’t come together for this.

Do you realize how insensitive what you said sounds?

This lockdown has made even the least anxious people anxious, even the least depressed people clinically depressed. People have committed suicides because they could not stand the loneliness or they were unable to see their loved ones. On top of it all, people have lost jobs. And not the rich people, cause they can barely loose something even in this kind of situation, but those more and most vulnerable.

The solution is not imprisoning people, but strict regulations without exceptions. And if that does not work, well....people would rather die then, than stay locked inside.

It’s infuriating. It’s an insult to everyone else who is putting up with lockdown, an insult to the lives lost in such a horrible way and their grieving families, an insult to the vulnerable, the elderly and the disabled.

My mental health is at the absolute lowest point it’s ever been and yet I understand the need to keep sticking with it and help protect others. No one is pretending it’s not awful, everyone feels like a year of their life has gone to waste, but following the safety measures will literally save lives. I completely understand the frustration and the desperation people are feeling, and the Government should absolutely be doing more to support people in precarious financial situations, but they’ve announced the proposed roadmap out of this. We now have some idea of when things will ease: an anti-lockdown protest won’t make those dates come any sooner (if anything it could cause a spike in cases that pushes things back), we’ve got to stick it out.

It’s true. The positive thing is now maybe mental health will be taken more seriously.

I’m not saying people haven’t lost jobs or time but rebelling against measures designed for us to go back to normal is the opposite of what should be done.

Either way this is a minority in the grand scheme of things.

Exactly.

In my country they closed everything but groceries and pharmacies for a week. I mean I get it if you want to close gyms, restarurants and places people gather at, but a bookstore? Or a department store? There is already a limited number of people that can get inside.

That's the logic I can't quite grasp. Can't you just limit it?

if you close down gyms, restaurant and places where people gather, what do you think will those people do that are effected by it to pass the time?

probably going to the other things that are still opened like a book store

i guess that's basically it :madge:

Okay I'm gonna pop off right now... do y'all think that you're the only ones who's mental health has been effected by the Covid-19 pandemic? Imagine being so entitled to think that the measures are NOT justified just because you're suffering from poor mental health... I cannot believe some people in this thread...

Guess what? Everyone has been affected by mental health problems. We are people and we do best in situations where we talk and interact with others. But we are STILL in a global pandemic. A whole year later and we are still dealing with this horrible virus. Until there are zero Covid-19 cases in our country and everyone is vaccinated, every restriction and any lockdown (past, present, or future) is absolutely justified.

Just because you might be suffering from mental health issues does not give you the right to say 'fck it' and do whatever, messing up all the sacrifices we have made up until this point because you may feel it's gone on too long. Who cares if you think its gone on too long? The virus is STILL here. People are STILL being infected. People are STILL dying from this virus. These are the cards we are being dealt with, its what we do with them that counts. We can't get rid of this virus if people are going out meeting eachother, we can't get back to normal if people attend mass gatherings. Its common sense... keep the virus from spreading, drive numbers down until we have no cases, get everyone vaccinated, and then we can get back to normal.

You can attack and be critical of the government for not handling this correctly, and not locking down for long enough or early enough... but I'm getting sick and tired of people complaining about the actual lockdowns/restrictions. Its time y'all thought about other people rather than yourselves. This will keep happening until Covid-19 isn't a thing anymore. And in many European countries, a 4th wave is happening...

The question is; do y'all want to get back to normal as quickly as possible, or not? Cause if you do, then stick with the lockdown measures until we drive this virus right down while we get people vaccinated.

Okay? That's all

I don't believe it's the minority that feels that way. It is just the amount of people that decided to go to streets. It's a top of the iceberg.

And by now, I doubt that everyonce believes in these locking up measures that are designed to 'save' us.
