Yeah she needs to learn how to deal with criticism and not feed it. But it's not right to call it "the truth." And it's not true to say she doesn't take any accountability when she did and still does put in the work to make up for her cultural appropriation (which happened in ONE video so it's absolutely ridiculous to say her whole career is built on it) as she works with native american charities and constantly donates and promotes them

I hear you and to me she was doing a fantastic job, up until last year I was so proud of her and how much she grew as an artist. But that letter and that interview completely ruined it for me. And now on this new record she sings about not changing who she is and how she’s said no but she meant yes. It’s just sketchy.

The shade is dripping :ladyhaha:

Yeah, I don't get the shade...do they think Lorde, Adele, Bey, Gaga, etc. hate to make music just because they don't create as quickly?

The "staying the same and not changing" part in Dark But Just a Game is a response to a bad experience with an idol of hers at a Madonna party pre-covid and not about the recent controversies. The revenge part is more concerning. It really confuses me.

I think those definitely put a sour taste in everyone's mouth. That letter could have been perfectly fine without naming names, she should have known it would get people riled up, but i don't see it as racist that she named all the female artists who were successful at the moment, and most of them happened to be women of color (two weren't) and most importantly it said absolutely nothing negative about them. From there she kinda lost the thread and kept digging herself into a deeper hole trying to justify herself.

I'm listening to COCC on repeat since it came out yesterday, and I'm still hyped about it. So it's nice to hear that she's planing to release even more this year.

trust is like a mirror, you can fix it if it's broken but you can still see the crack in that ************s reflection.

The revenge part also sounds interesting, I like when her music is darker etc.

Also I understand where the "glorifying domestic abuse" stuff is coming from, but can someone explain the cultural appropriation thing to me?

Yeah we all know who they were talking about, but it also applies to those artists bc they also take their time to release new music

Wolf Boy

She’s always been petty. I don’t know why some of you are surprised.

Anyway, i’m sure we won’t get an album in June but either way i’m on board for whatever direction she goes in.

NYC Monster

This is petty of her. You can't expect people to not have an opinion of you, especially when you're a celebrity and ESPECIALLY when you're a celebrity acting/doing weird things. People are going to assume the worst of you.

She’s never going to be let off the hook.
If she doesn’t publicly denounce Trump, she’s a Republican, if she does then they go “why would she feel the need to do that? She must secretly be a republican”

Whatever she does, the media are always going to assume the worst.

The best thing to do for her career would be to stop striking back when they try to misconstrue her as someone she’s not. But, personally, I’m glad she’s not letting herself be silenced

Same thing with NFR, Violet. There is also the Americana standards album that didn't even come out. :bradley: She just gets excited and announces things impulsively, which shows that she loves making and puting out music in the end.

I actually didn't know she delayed NFR! But it is strange how she releases songs so long before the album, like why did L4L lead come out in February and then the album in July :triggered:
