There's no way she's getting paid THAT much for so little shows, she hasn't been that hot of a commodity. Gwen Stefani has a similar profile to Katy with the GP, especially for something like a Vegas show, and she's paid much less. The only way I could see this being true is if this is a huge post-COVID gamble to try and bring people back to Vegas... but still, only 2 shows a week??? She's going to have the same problem that prevented Smile from being a success -- the fan support simply isn't strong and/or large enough right now. In addition to having extremely strong and loyal fanbases, our other pop faves each had extreme strengths: Britney is a phenomenal dancer and performer even though she doesn't sing live. Mariah has attained legendary status and still has the occasional radio hit. And Gaga is all of the above along with probably being the best live performer since Michael Jackson. Idk. I just feel like it’s a lot of money to set her up... People barely even buy her music. Her fan base isn’t very strong either. Most Vegas residencies are headlined by artists who can be appreciated by ALL ages. I just don’t see older people being interested in seeing Katy. I went to the Teenage Dream tour twice and was in the pit for Prismatic (Katy touched my hand because I knew the words). The Witness tour looked great and each song had a cool set up. I’d go to a Katy greatest hits show for sure. I think the amount of money she’s getting seems a little far fetched for her. She would be perfect for the Planet Hollywood venue.
