Better Day 5,766
“Today marks the second reading of the Police, Crime, Sentencing & Courts Bill, which will increase police powers and allow them to clamp down on protests. The bill, spearheaded by home secretary Priti Patel, had already met with criticism, but has come under renewed scrutiny in the wake of police actions at the vigil for Sarah Everard on Clapham Common. During the gathering, police descended to break up the vigil, grabbing those present and arresting some. Their actions were widely criticised as “neither appropriate nor proportionate”. After initially being rumoured to abstain, Labour announced it would vote against the bill as it returns to the House of Commons, saying it imposes “disproportionate controls on free expression”.” Source: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thecanary.co/uk/analysis/2021/03/15/priti-patels-new-policing-bill-is-threatening-our-right-to-protest/amp/ Welcome to facist United Kingdom Together You And I! HuffsAhoy 7,433
This sounds like some crazy shiz the Republicans would try to pull The growing anti-protest sentiment over the last year is very concerning. Rio 5,088
So do all you liberals agree that they broke social distancing rules or what? One second y'all like "these trump rallies shouldn't be taking llace, no ones socially distancing." But this protest happens, illegally, and now they're having their freedom to protest taking away? I agree with the message of the vigil. I likely would have been there if I could, but they still broke laws, that's it really.

It’s actually not against COVID restrictions for something like to the vigil to be held. Plus the fact most of the people were socially distance and were wearing mask. I understand why the vigil went ahead. I am not supportive of this (like the Black Lives Matter protests last year) Together You And I!

Those protests had to happen, while the momentum, reality and and awareness of black rights was at a high. I was FOR the blm protests. Sure, less looting could have happened but theres always bitches who take advantage of situations like that

I was against the protests happening at the time because of lockdown and the amount of cases and deaths we were having at that time. It would be the same for any protest, at that time. I would of totally attended the protests if we weren’t in lockdown. Together You And I!

Tbh, the BLM protests never increased the cases at all anyway. Every protest I attended, maskwearing was mandatory, and 3m distance (not 2m) was promoted.
