I understand why there are limits but if you think about an individual making $80,000 in the US....they likely have that amount in student loan debt. And since we aren't getting that relief, at least help them in another way. I don't know I'm torn on it. Student loan payments have been deferred. Someone making 80k isn’t having to pay their loans right now.

The interest is still compounding and those deferments will come to an en, making your student loan debt larger than it even is currently. I don't make $80k individually, and I'd argue that that is a nice salary, but I just have mixed feelings on it. she/her/hers

The U.S. government has suspended all federal student loan payments and halted all interest charges, through the end of September 2021. At the same time, all collections and garnishments on federal student loans in default have stopped as well.

That’s 14 more million than received checks last time.

Why are so many people on here devoid of basic thoughts? I’m assuming you’re talking about healthcare workers, fire fighters and police officers, teachers, corrections officers, public transit employees, social workers, and grocery store and drug store managers? Sorry, that’s all I can think of that would be considered “front-line” and “salaried”. 🤷🏼♂️ When I think of front-line/essential workers, I think of hourly employees. I used to be one of them. About the bombing, there's no excuse, as there's no excuse for the US to constantly export war for the past decades. They just can't keep it to themselves as long as there's some money to be made anywhere else. It's very annoying to EVERYONE in the world to always be thinking that at any time these dumb f*cks can screw everyone with a third world war in the nuclear era for no good reason. From the news, it seems like Biden was actually the one proposing a less aggressive approach, but obviously not pacific enough, as the answer should always be no violence, no matter what. And you're right, these wounds are self-inflicted by conservative democrats, but you're just validating my point. Biden doesn't have much power when even his own party doesn't support the changes people are expecting him to make. There's a reason this post is about a deal, and not about a single person's decision. He's negotiating with both sides, trying to meet them halfway. For many people this is not enough, for some it is too much, but you shouldn't put the whole blame in his name, just like you shouldn't put it on Trump alone. Sure, most Americans are tired of the idea of corruption but the most privileged aren't willing to let go of the advantages it brings them in order to bring the less privileged to their level. That's why they elected the most corrupt guy they could find on TV that they knew would keep the less privileged in their place outside the perfect American white picket fenced bubble. And that's why there's so much opposition to Biden (or anyone that would be in his position) changing things, even within his own party. Reveal hidden contents Also, it's funny that you're calling me, an all-the-way leftist guy in Portugal, out for right-wing framing. I couldn't even sleep the night after the presidential elections in January had a far-right candidate with 13% of votes. Im not putting all the blame on him on this issue, I really want Manchin and Synema out of power ASAP, but Moderate Republicans often vote along party lines after speaking out against certain things their party does. I just want Manchin and Sinema’s buff called. What’s even worse is that Biden went to talk to Manchin and apparently they didn’t even bring up the minimum wage. The only way to pass the wage is thru this bill. It’s not getting 60 votes and the filibuster dying seems like a long shot. Also, I’m not calling you a right winger btw. Left/centrists accidentally use right wing framing all the time. I do it often, but try not to. Lots do it and don’t even notice/care. What’s more important is that you accidentally don’t validate their messy POVs without critiquing it, Which is like ultra high level whatever the **** it’s not that serious lmao anyway 7 hours ago, MJHolland said: I’m so confused what you’re mad about. First you say the Biden is delivering less checks than Trump. What a bizarre metric? Lmao who cares about giving checks to the rich? Biden’s overall stimulus package is way bigger than Trumps so really who cares how many checks are going out the door? Also, overriding the parliamentarian TO DO WHAT? The bring a bill to a vote that will fail anyways? Y’all are so lazy in your criticism He’s writing those in the Georgian suburbs who pushed him over the edge to win the senate, out of the eligibility. It’s not bizzare when you think about the congress races. Cutting 12M adults out the range is gonna increase the chances of a red wave in 2022... the last thing needed. Its 1.9T, its really not that noticeable of a cut either. Also, they’re well in their range to get the money since they paid for their taxes, unlike the Fortune 500. 100k is well off, but not rich... The bill is not certain to fail. A lot of politicians talk, but never walk. Manchin and Sinema are more obsessed about cosplaying as independents to an audience that doesn’t exist. I’d be surprised if they actually have the guts to tank the whole party’s first term. If they do block it, running ads against them based on that is effective - not ads about how bigoted they are bc they didn’t vote for Neera Tanden. So yeah, not lazy. Factoring in health insurance, car, bills, rent, and student loans ($1000+ per month of just student loans), you barely have any money left to put in your pocket. MANiCURE1295 8,673
One minute people say “Biden owes the disenfranchised who gave him the senate the checks” then once it comes out that 98% of people who received checks from Trump will get Biden checks yall switch and are like “Biden owes the well off people in GA who gave him the senate” do y’all even know how far 80K goes in a place like GA where the price of living is relatively lower in the south...stop acting like so many people who voted for Biden in GA are personally affected by this the Democrats messaging sucks, how about instead of every progressive talking about well off people making 80K+ not getting checks you start talking about the increased unemployment, the increased tax credits and the fact that much more adult dependents will get checks. NOT TO MENTION HELPING MANY CHILDREN IN POVERTY LIKE HELLO WHO GIVES A **** IF PEOPLE MAKING 85K DONT GET CHECKS Edit: also no, Trump did not give you 2K, he gave 1200 dollar checks and then when Dems wanted more he had his party hold out and give you 600...and now you thank him for giving you those pennies people do realize if the Dems had power in December you would’ve gotten 2K and not 600...now you love Trump for that...?
