Jill 31,812
Disney CEO Bob Chapek Hints At Shorter Theatrical Windows: For “Impatient” Customers, “I’m Not Sure There’s Going Back” Disney CEO Bob Chapek suggested that the company will likely shrink the exclusive period when its films play only in theaters, though he didn’t offer any specifics. “The consumer is probably more impatient than they’ve ever been before,” he said of the market shifts during Covid-19, “particularly since now they’ve had the luxury of an entire year of getting titles at home pretty much when they want them. So, I’m not sure there’s going back. But we certainly don’t want to do anything like cut the legs off a theatrical exhibition run.” Moviegoers, he added, won’t “have much of a tolerance for a title, say, being out of theatrical for months” and “just sort of sitting there, gathering dust” before migrating to streaming or other windows. Chapek made the comments at a virtual investment conference hosted by Morgan Stanley. It was one of his few appearances outside of an official corporate function since becoming CEO about a year ago. Movie theaters I'm afraid are slowly becoming a thing of the past--I mean at least presently the way things have been going...
bionic 50,111
I think a simultaneous release with D+ would be good (as long as I don't cahrge extra like Mulan). Some films people will want to see at the cinema.
CautiousLurker 19,733
Y'all remember the Universal/AMC drama? Comedy truly is tragedy+time It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

Ricksies 527
I refuse to pay for Premier Access. Not worth the price they're asking as I watch most of them by myself and I'll probably only watch it once unless it's amazing.

But I don't know if it's really benefitial considering piracy... With theatrical releases you had movies on pirate websites but in potato quality (both image and sound) but with this type of release you will have it on high quality... This might be the only way to release projects during these times without pushing back their whole schedule but Premier Access makes it more difficult because that additional fee really discourage many people... I think they should make the suscription a little bit more expensive and just forget that Premier Access modality (there's still the piracy problem but at least they can gain some subscribers )

Just release it on Disney+ (I think that's one of the few titles people would pay the additional fee to have the Premier Access, tbh) or on PVOD to rent it for 24 or 48 hours (similar to Trolls) for the ones who don't want to pay for a subscription on D+
